I just started building my gf a GHB. She hates prepping/GHB's and anything like that because Doomsday preppers makes everyone with a GHB look crazy but after the unfortunate attacks in Paris she is starting to understand. I'll list the contents shortly. Has anyone ever built their wife/gf a bag before?

Has everyone seen this guy? It's a "little" overboard in my opinion lol

I recommend it. My GF isn't a prepper at all, but I insisted that she have a GHB in her car and know how to use what's in it. I maintain it for her, but she knows how to use everything in it. She won't carry a gun, still, so she's got some bear-strength pepper spray in there instead of spare ammo, lol.

The world has been a shit sandwich with no bread for a long time depending on your geographical location and occupation... It's good to see more people catching on and growing the movement. If you prepare for the worst, then when something mundane like an earthquake, hurricane, forest fire, etc happens you are ready. The one thing most people miss is a nice weather radio with an alert function. The NWS sends out alerts for any emergency, not just weather related and it's hard to find a place in the continental US that doesn't have coverage (unlike cell phones). It's a good way to know what's going on when the lights go out... don't get a cheap one!

I keep some basics in there. SOG seal pup, some para-chord, cans of tuna (food allergies make it tough) 45 ACP with 2 mags. I'm a high and steep inspector so I also have 300 ft of climbing rope and a harness. Some scrapes and bruises first aid kit, some tools under the access seat and a case of water bottles in the bed. I also keep a small tarp and duct tape in the door pocket.

I carry 2 of the Baofeng radios when I'm going out of town. Program them with your local weather (very easy) and you're set. Plus, you then have 2-way communication with someone else, or you have double the standby time. When one dies, the other is good to go. You can program in all of the GMRS and FRS channels, plus HAM frequencies so you can dial in search and rescue if you have signal. With your HAM license, you can tap into area repeaters and significantly extend your range and capabilities.

Did you guys hear about Germany? ISIS planned an attack on the Germany-Netherlands game and the stadium was evacuated. Police warned people not to hold still and to leave immediately. Unconfirmed but an ambulance full of explosives is rumored to have been recovered. A mysterious object was found in the train nearby and all trains were evacuated. Counter terrorism units deployed. Warning that London and US are next.

Before you go start a panic, where did you see the details about anything to do with an ambulance loaded with explosives, or that the evacuations included areas of specific interest like trains? I watch various news outlets all day and haven't seen that yet. Please validate your findings with a credible resource, please.

Sorry I'm in class and getting updates from a buddy watching the news. I'll ask him what channel he is watching but based on his preferences it is probably cnn or fox.

I did. Reported, but not confirmed. If there ended up being a vehicle full of explosives that didn't meet its destination, that's excellent work by authorities to thwart it.

After googling it, seems like there are a lot of reports of that. I did say "unconfirmed," but it seems true. Haven't looked up train yet

I have an Icom installed in my Taco, and it is great for SHTF comms/wheelin' trips. What it's not good for is weather radio. Sure, you can tune to 162.XXX and listen to your local feed, but it will not automatically turn on and alert you if the SHTF. A dedicated weather radio will (the decent quality ones anyhow). So assume you live next to a stream, if there is a flash flood at 2am the radio starts beeping and blaring the warning, all on it's own, even if the power is out. Same with tornado/flooding/zombies/whatever. It's the same feed that goes to the local TV station for the "emergency broadcast".
