I have an older cylindrical-canister-style wall-mount shop vac (12 amp I think), ...having it wall mounted is really nice since it frees up floor space (I.e. making it easier for me to navigate around the clutter I have in my small garage! :D)... I also have a small "dust deputy" cyclone up stream of the vac, ...the cyclone works wonders if you're dealing w/ sawdust, etc. as it will collect nearly all of it (hardly ever having to clean the vac canister and filter is a wonderful luxury...) i'd highly recommend getting a cyclone in addition to the vac if your going to be generating sawdust...

mission accomplished! trying to discern from the pics, ...looks like it has a lot of veining coloration throughout for carerra marble? (assuming that's what it is)?... ...i'd imagine those are kinda fragile in those dimensions... looking forward to seeing the project unfold!

Hooray for solar! What brand panels/charge controllers/inverters? 28 panels should put you at about 7kW, which is over 1,000 kWh per month. That's some hefty production.

It's actually a marble called Silver Shadow , there is a lot of veining but the stone is pretty dense for a marble and stable

    http://www.olympiatile.com/product/series/85/marble

We're using a Bianco Carrera stone tile on the shower walls and tub surround wainscoting

I'll take a pic when I'm done but the floor is 12x24 in a brick bond , the Carerra wall tiles will be 3x12 or 4x12 in a similar brick bond .

Shower is on the end , walls , sloping ceiling and flat ceiling will all be Carrera , and that carries out to the left as a wainscoting up to the bottom of the windows as a backsplash behind the vanity and above the tub deck

...looks to be a pretty good sized room and shower, ...that'll be quite a bit of tile, especially including wainscot tile and.... going with marble, it'll look refined and elegant for sure... didn't understand if your reference to ceiling was just in the shower or if you meant the whole room...?....?

Just the shower ceiling gets tile , it will end at the door where the drywall and Kerdi board meet in the second pic

Yes , custom tempered door . We're going to use a marble chair rail on top of the wainscoting and will either turn that vertical to transition at the door or go to a carrera pencil to transition up the vertical plane , not sure yet

I lived on off-grid solar for six years. I'd do it at my current place if I could justify the nearly $60k it would cost. Instead, I'm trying to figure out how to finance a grid-tie with battery backup system at my new house, closer to $20k.

Are you leasing that equipment from a company or will you own it outright when all is said and done?

The walls are different lengths yes

I could move the right wall in to make the opening symetrical but the drawback is that it narrows the door by about 10" and means less light into the shower . I thought about it for a while , decided I would rather have more light

Yeah it's on a lease agreement, locked into a flat monthly rate (which is great because SDG&E has one of the highest energy rates in the U.S.) $0- out of pocket on our end & of course the solar co. reaps the rewards of the extra juice generated to sell back to SDG&E or on the spot market I assume...

Is there battery storage or is it just tied to the grid with net metering ?
