Is there any cure for that '1 rear window open helicopter thumping' noise?

Totally depends on the temperament of your dogs. I have heard it is easiest if you already have a cat and then get a small puppy. But you can try and introduce a cat to your dogs and see what happens.

Roger on that. My dogs are well-tempered, but excitable. More research is needed.

Nice pup. As far as doggy stuff let her do the doggy stuff and your right, you can't protect her from everything. As an owner you already protect her and there are things you do everyday to make sure she's safe. I still disagree with you on letting her stick her head out the window. She wants to do it and you give in and allow it. How about opening the rear slider and let her pop her head to the back? She still gets to smell the fresh air and no danger form flying debris.

My dog turns 15 on the 27th, cat turned 15 1/2 a few days ago. They grew up together, have been through hell and back together. They sleep together, play together, clean each other, care for each other when sick. I never gave them the "You are supposed to hate each other" memo so they don't. I've accepted the fact that when one goes, much like an old married couple, the other one probably will too.

    To answer OP

the cure for the low frequency pump from rear windows is to disrupt the airflow across the
entire front and side of vehicle

that means you disrupt aerodynamics and will affect MPG, and also you'll
have more overall wind noise windows up or down

you want to go that route, have at it.

remember old cars that had a rain gutter welded to the edge of the roof ? do that

some continuous edge like on this Plymouth that sticks up into the air flow
it kills MPG harshly, but also lets you open rears with a lot less whomp

Don't get me wrong. I have seen many a great relationships between cats and dogs. It can be tricky at first is all, unless one or both are young. I plan to get a dog soon and I already have to cats so I would love to have what you have someday.
One of my best friends recently rescued a pit bull and they have a 3 year old cat. It was all fine for a couple days until the dog decided he didn't want the cat around anymore and it turned into a violent episode. Cat is ok, dog was returned, family was sad.

Didn't see this thread until I followed Jake's sig quote ... Bear was lightly amused.

I don't believe there's a hard set rule about when cats and dogs are gonna get along. I suspect being raised together from pup and kitten helps, but my buddy has a rescue cat he got as a garage / outdoor cat; she had been badly neglected and was mean and anti-social as all get out when he first got her. It took several months, but today she is as friendly a cat as you could want, to include getting along with his Springer Spaniel and Golden Retriever as if they were all best friends. Animals, like people, come in all temperments and personalities, you won't know until you try. IMHO

Hmmm, interesting. I have never been much of a cat guy, but I have also never really tried, either.

May have to look into this. More research is needed...

From experience I can recommend a Lynx Point Siamese, that's what Britt's @RearViewMirror cat Sam is IIRC. We had cats for many years because on active duty I didn't have time to pay proper attention to a dog. Our Lynx Point Siamese was the best of the lot, and the most sociable and personable cat I'd ever come across. Britt has indicated the same experience with Sam. FWIW.

-1 for bringing logic in this thread

Yep. That's what Sam is. Thing is I don't like animals. Well... let me rephrase that. I don't like animals living in "my" house. I like other peoples' animals. I grew up with at least one dog in the house at all times. My Mom is a HUGE dog person. Hell, sometimes I used to think she loved the dogs more than me (that was probably founded when I was growing up). I never wanted a animal living in my house. I've got a 10 year old daughter and she's messy enough. My wife talked me into this cat and it took a lot of talking but I have never been more attached to a animal in my life. I actually told my wife that I'll really be sad when something finally happens to him. He is truly one of the coolest cats I've ever been around. He just want's to be in the same room as you. That's it. I've never seen a cat as social as this cat.
