Of course everyone is outraged because we all own a Tacoma...therefore its better!!!

I tested the Colorado. The interior was nicer than my 2015 (can't say on the 16). It was a pretty good truck especially for a fresh start, so I'm not surprised it is doing well in reviews. I chose the Tacoma based on availability, price, and interior room. I also didn't want a first production year vehicle (same reason I didn't want a '16 Tacoma).

Some people hate GM, I generally like them for anything with a V8. My GTO has 120k and almost no issues (one radiator, one driveshaft). My uncle has a Silverado and a Tahoe, both with over 160k on them and all he has done is brakes and a water pump on the truck.

The GM v8 is strong, and after working years in a service dept I rarely saw them have issues. I've just had bad luck with any other engine they offer. Chevy Spark needed a top end rebuild and new cylinder at 50k (thank god it was under warranty). Family had a Chevy Venture V6 that had major issues by 70k. These issues and tons I saw in the service dept also scared me away from a GM with a V6.

My 2004 had 93k miles and was mint. It makes a difference.

Its up there for sure, and here in Western Canada the 4runner is probably the top range. Ive seen the prices of pre-owned 4runner increase over the last couple of years. A clean 2007 4runner with average miles sells for around $20000!!!

Makes sense, the New 4runner is so ugly no one will buy it. Toyota really needs some help on styling, the New Tacoma is inoffensive and conservative but the 4runner, New Prius, Camry, and Lexus RX are just horrendous. Lexus, with that stupid "spindle grille" really needs some help. Pay the guy at Hyundai whatever he wants to come over to Toyota.

Disagree...the I like the new 4runner, we actually have a 2016 Trail Edition in our garage and the fit, finish, and build quality is on a different level than the Tacoma. Looks are subjective of course, but we really like it. And 5th gen resale values are as strong as any gen 4runner.

Well we just have to wait and see how it pans out. For all we know, fuel prices will rise and the GM twins will go extinct.........again.

That's one thing I like about Toyota. They introduce a vehicle, and stick with it for the long haul. They will modify supply to keep pace with demand, but they think long and hard before they axe a vehicle. To me this helps the brand in terms of long term recognition. Names like Tacoma, 4Runner, Camry, Tundra, Sienna, Prius and Avalon.....these names have been around for a long time. It's sad to see the FJ go, but even that is fetching a premium in the used car market right now.

Hopefully GM learned its lesson and has now simmered the brand down to a handful of models and will continue to work and improve them.

As for the opinion of a few car magazine reviewers, well the fact remains that despite GM's new truck, Toyota still outsold the GM twins in 2015......and did so with a 10 year old design.

Not sure where your other post went where you went through the chain of responses.

Didn't have any issue with you and what you got for your truck. If some guys wants to pay they price you want then good on you!

I do find it odd though when people still pay big $$$ when the vehicle is at the end of it's life (e.g. 300 K)

The New GTO's were actually made by Holden in Australia. IMO, one of the best vehicles GM ever put out.

I know, I'm well versed in the history of my goat lol. The engine is the the LS V8 (mine is LS1), which is a GM V8...which is really what I was speaking of. GM has phenomenal V8's. Its the rest of their engines I don't trust. I would love a Silverado with the 5.3 (if I was looking for a full size and had a bigger wallet!)

I keep hearing people say "Tacoma is better because it sells more." How many are sold has nothing to do with it. First off GM is not producing as many Canyon/Colorado's. Let me put it another way Mazda sells more MX5 sports cars than say Porsche Boxster. The Porsche wins hands down.

The head to head comparisons that the twins keep winning tell the story not how many Tacoma's are sold.

This. I'm no GM fan but Jimsc's argument is very solid.

Like saying a Big Mac (extruded intestine and sawdust) is better because they sell more than the small burger joint in your home town that makes fantastic burgers but of course sells less.
