Is it just me, or do the speakers in the back(rear doors) sound significantly quieter than those in the front? To the point where I'm asking myself, why the hell have speakers in the back if you can't hear them at all. I called my dealership and brought the truck in for them to check out, and they tell me that it's because of the speaker size that they're so quiet. Apparently, it's 6x9s in the front, but 5s in the back(?). I've been looking around to see if I can't find specifications relating to the speakers, but I can't find anything anywhere for the 2016s

I'm positive that the truck I test drove wasn't like that at all, I recall even the kids saying that it was like they were at a concert and it was "AWESOME". Would someone be able to test something for me? Starting with the sound level in the center(center F/B and center L/R), start moving the level towards the the rear of the cab until it is only the rear speakers playing. Is the sound like 10x times less than those in the front?

Does your vehicle have the optional JBL package? Did you test drive a model WITH JBL, by chance?

That's how mine sounds with the JBL package...not impressed and will eventually take it in to an audio shop and have them redone for better surround sound.

Not to mention the signal strength is poor at best in my truck. The dealership said it was normal and to leave it on FM1...but my Serius radio quality fades in and out in ideal weather coditions. I most likely have a ground wire issue, bad coaxle cable or antena. Signal sucks and goes static in places my 2012 car had no problems.

Has anyone else confirmed the speaker size difference between front and back?

I did just that over the weekend with the wife in the car and definitely hear a big difference if I put
the slider more to the front. I tried just the back and just the front and the front was MUCH better.

That's why I didn't hold out and wait for the jbl, it's not much of an upgrade and for the
money spent you can do much better with after market.

I hear that. My last car I did a JBL sub and amp on stock touch screen head unit and speakers in my Prius C and it was worlds above what I have now. But I have to say the head unit on the tacoma upgrade was well worth it for me. I do dig the quick interface which my other cars could not come close to.

same here man, love the H/U in prem/tech package. Soon I think I'm putting a decent sub in the
back and I may upgrade the rear door speakers as well.

Are there any audio outputs in the non-JBL head unit to tap into? I'd like to wire up an amp when I get my taco.. anyone done this yet?

There are no RCAs for direct connecting. You'll need separate wiring for compatibility.
