Hi all, I have a question about fog light performance:
I want to put fog lights on my 2015 Tacoma SR5 pick up. It came without them and I am adding a custom bumper and will be installing fog lights into it. I will also install off road LED lights indepenent from the fog lights. A lot of people are changing their fog lights for brighter, stronger, different coloured, LED, etc. I thought fog lights used to be designed, not just to be brighter but, to cut through fog better than other lights (headlights, off road lights, etc.). Fog lights traditionally used to be amber and I was told this is because amber cuts through fog better than white which can create a white wall that can be harder to see through, but I see amber less commonly these days.
My question is: am I right about fog lights? If so, what kind of lights would I look for for this purpose?

 

Are the wires that connect to the bulb black/grey or black/black??
Just read in the other thread it's black/black.

 

That flasher is only good for the 05-11.

 

Andrew, According to another member who called RFS, Jamel at The Retrofit Source says the 5500 kit comes with the new XB3 bulb.

Could we get some clarification?

Is there a specific kit for an 09? Or is this 2016 only, I'm interested in both sets if so.

 

Question, do we need hyper flash resisters for the turn signal light?

 

order showed up today. got a note that said the LED high beams are on backorder. I guess i can survive for a little while with the HID low beams and fog lights.

 

Anyone install their hid? Installed mine today and I got a pop followed by both lights going out. Very usual. Fuses and relay harnessare good which makes me wonder if this is a ballast or bulb issue.. but both of them going out?... Very unlikely unless a bad batch has been made which is why I'm asking if anyone else has issues.

 

That is pretty odd. Give retro a call! Mine comes in tomorrow i will be installing it Friday before I head to work. I will keep you posted!

 

Just ordered a set of XB Fog lights for my 2016! Thanks @TRSAndrew for the sweet deal! Also just got my Fog light bezels in from the dealership the other day so all i need is a wiring harness and switch for the truck!

 

I can't say I've ever been in fog so thick that I turned my headlights off and drove only with my fog lights. That is the only time that fog color would make any difference, in which case yellow would be better than crisp white for visibility.

Yes, you need resistors when reducing the load of your turn signal bulbs, such as in going to LED bulbs.

We have a massive shipment arriving next Tuesday. It will be sent out the same day that container arrives.

If both lights went out, it's not a ballast or bulb--it can't be. I would check the fuse on the truck low beam in case one of the power leads touched somewhere causing the blown fuse.

 

I gave them a call and they told me to double check the ground, I connected the ground to the battery and wallah! It came on. I guess that pop I had heard was the relay..

It's ironic because I know good grounds are important so I chose a ground that connected to the chassis, and I did a ground to battery volt check and I was getting a solid 12.6V. I went with a different ground and its working.

Anyways, if anything this shows how good the TRS guys are.

The wires on all my stuff is black. I ordered 35w 5500K.

 

Is the group buy for both or can we get just the HID kit for the low beams?
