Get some ms2 LTX ... Problem solved. No unintended sliding last year and I could intendingly drift my truck in a controlled straight line in the snow. Minimal need for the 4 wheel drive in the snow as well.

Also, I have very very little wear after 12k miles

no, not problem solved. It took my braking power away completely. I wasn't sliding. It was just like i was in drive and rolling with my foot off the brake, but my foot was on the brakes hard!

While the ABS on my 2005 acted as bad as others report, the 2010 is totally great and stops fine... no mods... why mine works and other 2010's don't??

Yes, the brakes RELEASED on my 2005 because of the ABS. I haven't had any problems yet with my 2014. Toyota made changes to the entire braking system, including ABS after 2005. Unfortunately, I don't know when the changes took place. I'm also under the impression that there has been at least two redesigns after the 2005 and those changes are in the 2014. The master cylinder is totally different than the 2005.

BTW, I have installed the ABS defeat switch on my 2014, but haven't had to use it yet. The ABS defeat function is needed for off road and driving in snow.

Thank god my '01 doesn't have ABS. My friend has an '03 or '04 and he was going fast in the desert, and he tried to turn but ABS turned on and it caused him to roll three times. He was lucky and him and his friend in the passenger side came out with no injuries.

i couldn't replicate it either. I went into icy/snowy parking lots and did lots of sudden stops, slow stops etc. It stopped fine every time. It happens when you least expect. Theres another tw member locally that i know and he rolled right into his wifes vehicle. He couldn't stop.

I'm sure that many of us would be interested in a class action law suit against Toyota for this. I'd sign up!

No more or less than I did in my 2005... I do have some snow photos from the mountains here in San Diego County (for the week each year we get snow this far south)!

It was gravel roads, slippery (wet) roads that the 2005 ABS would not stop... lucky to not crash into anything. My 2010, same conditions brakes fine... as did my 2001 Tacoma.

Yeah well the thread is about how ABS reacts when driving in snow not rain

Now you see, when I look at the top of this page in the thread title... it says: "ABS on this truck is dangerous..." Does slippery snow affect the ABS and slippery rain or gravel doesn't???
Time for a Moose Head, perhaps?

So, with over 2,000 replies in this thread... My mostly non-snow experience with ABS failure short comment is not worthy? Many apologies oh great and powerful Oz!

When I first bought my 2008 I noticed that the ABS seemed to take over way too often, Snow, Rain, and Dry conditions, after getting rid of the horrible Rugged Fail tires it was much improved. I ditched the Rugged Fails before I even took delivery of my 2015 and have had no ABS issues yet but will see how it does in the Snow here all too shortly.
