I kid you not. When I read your first post it seemed a bit high. But in my head I thought 90$ per fender isn't bad. That's your maco quote

I have a TRD OR on order in the quicksand, and I loved the black fender flares, until i saw this photo on another thread. Now I really want color matched.

Yeah anything over $100 a fender flare seems pretty high

Yeah man just the shipping on that would even negate a solid deal.

I guess I'm one of the few that actually prefer the black fender flares. As a matter of fact, to me, they look better than the color matched in my opinion. Breaks up the color some. Not to mention, it's less paint to maintain and worry about getting scratched, etc. Wipe them down with 303 aerospace several times a year and they'll never fade as long as you keep the truck. To each their own though, I definitely think I'm in the minority when it comes to the flares.

I have requested a quote and the feasibility of changing out my Black plastic Off-road fender extensions with color match ones. With my truck being black that is the only reason I want the the color match ones, otherwise I think they look good on other colors. As soon as I get Toyota dealer price (Fenders only, no labor), if the hole pattern is the same (Which it should be) and how they are attached (Bolts, seal tape, etc). I plan on having the fender extensions before or at the time I pick up my truck which is scheduled for the end of the year (on order but no production date yet :( ) . Opinions or experience with this change is is always welcome.

Were these painted in place or did they remove them to paint them?

I agree, I like the black flares better, plus, much less likely to get scratches from trails or people walking past in parking lots.

I'm thinking a quicksand with inferno flares would look pretty good.

I've pretty much decided that a 4Runner will be my next vehicle (no fault of the taco... I'm just an SUV guy), but I'll be vinyl wrapping the color matched fenders black. Haha

How are the new flares mounted? Are there hole in the fender/bedside? If not I would remove them, this looks much cleaner:

they advised that it would turn out better if they were removed and then painted. they also put on new fasteners and piping. really turned out nice.

Since Maaco is willing to paint all four flares for $360 I am considering going that route, however the body shop my local Toyota recommended wants to charge me $450 and the guy said he wouldn't match Maaco's price. Should I just spend the extra $90 knowing they will probably do a better job since Maaco isn't exactly the epitome of quality paint work, or at least that is the reputation they seem to have.

Good question. Does anyone know if the flares on the 16's have the clips that hold into the fender itself behind the flare?
