I'm not planning on buying another truck unless I win the Hoosier Lottery. I know what you mean about no one makes a small truck anymore. I would of bought a new Dodge Dakota but I found out 11 months ago they quit making them when Ford quit producing the Ranger in 2011. I'm glad I bought a new Tacoma. This 2.7 is a sweet little power plant. Wish I wasn't breaking it in during winter though.

    Winter oil changes suck :\

I agree on the 2.7 engine, the 2.5 and 2.3 ranger engines were a lot more "peaky" in terms of power. They feel about even in terms of peak power, but the Taco makes "peak power" from 3k up, it feels like a much flatter torque/HP curve.

It's nice flooring it and merging in 3rd without shifting. With the rangers, I'd have to start high in 2nd on the onramp to make the same speed in the same distance.

I almost bought a 16 DC V6 , but changed my mind , and I am glad I did. I still happy with my 12 Taco. 2.7 L. Maybe next year or so i may think about trade in to a V6 taco.

No regrets on buying the 16! It's actually my favorite new vehicle ever and I've had quite of few ranging from luxury sport sedans, a Honda S2000, Jeep Wrangler, and a little bit of everything in between.

No problems here, I'm not worried, there is a thing called a "warranty" for 3 years, being semi retired I'll be lucky to have 15k miles on it.

I'm probably going to get back into a 4Runner when I can get another 4WD. I really like the Tacoma, but I'm an SUV guy at the end of the day. I'd love to be able to get the 6MT and the 2GR-FKS in the 4Runner.

Always good to hear that many have a problem-free rig. Happy trucking! I know this is the majority.
On the other hand, some of the posters here are (insert derogatory term of choice here). As I've stated (more than once, in this thread alone), I have no illusions that any malfunctions will be 100% cured for the '17 model. I'm just not that naive. No need to justify this further, as the posts speak for themselves.
Regarding the "warranty" argument, meh... I like the security that a warranty offers, but knowing that it is there shouldn't make me "ok" with a problematic vehicle (slow your roll, I mean this in a general sense, not specifically the Taco).

I ordered my TRD OFF ROAD ,Auto SB, DC Blue with JBL Premium the 1st of Oct. and just got a build date of Dec.8th . I thinking I will not see truck until 1st week of Jan 2016 ,May be by then there will be enough feed back to Toyota that some of the minor issues will be resolved. But Have not been concerned at all about the few issues that have been posted on this site !!

500 miles and no issues. Love it!
-Don't care about power seats because I'm the only one that drives it.
-don't care about BSM because unlike most people I know how to use my side view mirror.
-I'm not sure what problems you've heard about entune but I haven't had any.
-A lot of people are complaining about how the truck likes to upshift and lacks power. This is false, you just have to learn the shift points.
-As far as the "howling noise" between 35 - 40mph.... Its a Toyota truck, not a Mercedes. Turn up the radio.
-I don't have pedal vibration. Maybe other people should stop driving in bare feet and being OCD.
-Don't mention power surge... Only 1 or 2 people have actually complained about this.

All in all, Don't buy a $35,000 truck and expect it to ride like an Audi. The 3rd gen is GREAT. could it be improved upon? Yes but not without raising the price. I guarantee power seats or anything else that may or may not come on the 2017 will cost extra $$$
