Good to hear. What do they most commonly install on the OR now?

What PSI do you guys that were blessed by Toyota with Rugged Fails run. Had my tires rotated at 5000 miles by dealership today. They put 36 PSI in all 4 tires. Yes, I even marked my tires as per TW recommendation, before I took my truck in. They changed my oil and rotated my tires in 24 minutes. Didn't even have an appointment. Just called and they said, "Bring her in now if you want to". Filter was changed and oil is new. Good service. Still don't like anybody messing with my baby Taco. Kinda made me feel like I did when I was 18 years old and my girlfriend went to the OBG.

I don't know for sure honestly I pulled an uneducated voter move there and had read that '16s had better tires and assumed it is true.

Now uh....hey look at that flying squirrel over there!

So far as the stock are concerned Toyota should be setting them to whatever the door sticker says which for the SR5 and the Dunflop Grandturds those where 30 PSI all around. Of course that sticker applies to the tire the truck was built with. I suppose the best thing is to call the tire manufacturer and see what they say.

Of course I read in a thread on tires here that a guy was told by the maker for his Taco they said a higher PSI for the rear tires which surely is not correct in fact that could even cause a loss of control I would think if the bed was empty and you hit say a rut in the road in a turn the tail end would bounce up and before you knew it your tail gate would be ahead of you.

Little research shows they are using Firestones and Goodyears. Finally, something better than those damn Dunlops.

I've had my 265 70 17 destination at's on my 07 dclb for 15,000 miles now and have no complaints. Excellent in the snow up here in western NY. I just bought SR8's and am trying to decide on tires, might go with the destination MT's.

I had seen Goodyears I believe on ORs that I saw awaiting delivery prep in the back lot at the local Yota dealer. I see that the 16 has the exact same steering wheel as the 12-15 dose. I wonder if the better tire has to do with the deletion of the 5 luggers as they used the Grandtreks as well could be a factor for the base thru SR5 trims.

Had my tires, Rugged Fails, rotated at dealer yesterday. Checked PSI this AM and they had my PSI set at 36 front and 32 rear also. What is their rational for this? Could they have noticed my tires wearing funny, or something, and are trying to correct the wear pattern with this PSI set up? The Service/Inspection sheet they gave me said they adjusted all four tires to 36 PSI.

The 265/75/16 Destination AT are the best upgrade to stock or slightly lifted Tacomas IMO. They are awesome in snow/ice too, would be even better if the Tacos ABS wasn't a deathtrap on icy roads.

That is exactly why. Even empty there is more weight on the front tires (with any front engine vehicle) with a car this matter less as the weight is distributed more evenly. With a pick up truck there is a lot less weight on the rear tires unless you have nearly the same or more weight in the bed or in tow.

Having the rear PSI lower provides a better more responsive ride as once heated from driving the PSI will usually be about the same front and rear in this case. With same PSI front and rear cold chances are the rears will be higher at road temperature which will make the ride a bit rougher. Id say this effect is more noticeable with all terrain tires because they have thicker sidewalls and thus a stiffer ride than an all season (the stock Dunlops are supposedly all season) tires which have much thinner more flexible side walls.

To some extent its up to the driver what they prefer and weather they are most concerned about better MPG(higher PSIs) or greater ride comfort(lower PSIs).In addition the higher the PSI the more responsive the ride and vice versa. All this is concerning driving on a hard top road. When off roading lower PSI is better many run down to 15-20 PSI for trail driving.

I was so close to getting these, my common sense got to me and got the michelin defenders for the mileage and ice traction, had good luck with them on the xterra. Mos tof my driving is on road.

For the life of me i cant figure out why the off road recommends 29 psi front and 32 back for the 265 70 16 tire. Been wondering if i can up the front a little.

because many people buy trucks but they cry if it rides like...... A truck. So to keep them pacified, Toyota not only runs the tires low, but in the US, we have also had weaker leafpacks since 2005.

On my second set of these bad boys got 80k last set. Living in Mexico the roads are not the best these guys hold up well. The BFG's I had first tore the sidewalls out.

I've asked myself the same question.

I understand that the fronts heat up more due to the additional weight/friction from the engine/turning. So when the tires are at hiway temps, they should be about the same. Maybe the front even a little higher pressure than the rears when hot. That makes sense to me.

Seems the fronts would require a higher pressure if you were to do a chalk test. If the above is true, then all is well.
