OK, so I turn on my ect pwr mode and the truck drivers 10 times better. Better shift points and throttle response. I have to be honest I did not expect such a big difference but glad their is.

Who else has used it and what's your thoughts?

I like it better, but it likely uses more fuel. It also seems like it doesn't shift into top gear with ECT on.

    It does use more fuel.

I'm hoping Toyota comes out with new transmission shift programming soon. Last I heard about it was what I read on toyotaforum link, that a Denver Toyota dealer has confirmed that Toyota was aware of the issue and working on a new software release to address it.

You can also use Sport shift mode and shift at 5-6k rpm for some fun. I like ECT because I prefer to feather the throttle... Without it you really need to get your lead foot on.

Probably annoyed there's a whole thread made to tell everyone ECT makes the truck shift better, even though its pretty much a widely known fact at this point. Plus I'm sure there's a million other threads on the topic by now.

If stuff like that bothers people like him he must not have a life or a very simple life, when their biggest worry is reposting. Its kind of pathetic actually. I wish that was my biggest worry in life though :(

who cares though? if it's an actual issue mods would be merging them. kinda pathetic that all the ones
that come here to whine about this shit on an hourly basis can't just NOT post in the thread. I'm always
amused that all the butthurts cling together liking each others shitty posts like HS girls.

I started this thread hoping to find out the technical aspects of the function. It's obvious that no one knows.

If anyone doesn't like the thread because it's a duplicate then stay the hell out of it. If you have no interest and want to be part of the conversation then stay the hell out also.

    Electronic Controlled Transmission
The ECT button in your Toyota toggles the electronic controlled transmission on and off. This transmission system uses hydraulics to actuate the clutches and bands, which are controlled by electronic solenoid, which simplifies the vehicle’s transmission while providing more advanced control.

With ECT, vehicles offer more elaborate control schemes. Not only does it monitor the vehicle speed and throttle position, the transmission controller can also monitor the engine speed when the brake pedal is pressed but the anti-lock braking system as well.

    When to use your ECT
Using your vehicle’s electronically controlled transmission, your Toyota’s engine is able to shift at higher revs. That being said, a good time to use this function of your engine is when you need to accelerate quickly, such as when merging onto the freeway. Acceleration is noticeably quicker with the Electronic Controlled Transmission on, however it should be noted that it significantly decreases your vehicle’s efficiency. So while you could leave it on and experience the influx of power all of the time, if you’re looking to save at the gas pump, we wouldn’t recommend it.

I wonder if it affect the timing also, it sounds like the engine itself is not pulling as hard as it could. Probably should go test drive one...

Depending on how much the gas mileage is impacted, it might be worth running it in ETC mode just to forgo the annoyance of constant shifting...
