Messed up real bad, mixed jumper cables

Ill just say it, have you seen my baseball? I did something incredibly stupid due to my lack of Common sense at the time. I just replaced my starter and went to jumpstart my truck when i put the opposite cables on the battery and caused a little sparking. Now nothing electrical seems to work, the headlights and door ajar seem to work but nothing(radio, odometer, dash) works. The truck makes no noise at all when i attempt to start either. I already tried it with a new battery and it does all of the above still. Any help or advice is much appreciated, im still very green in the automotive aspect. Sarcasm is welcome because well, this merits funny responses! Thanks all in advance

 

Check your fuses

 

Fuses, the bigger ones first.

 

How many fuses are there that arent located under the hood? I checked the fusebox before work and most of them were fine(didnt see all of them i was rushing)

 

There are two fuse boxes. Under the hood behind the battery and then under the left side dash.

In the shop I worked at I saw everything from exploded batteries to melted wires, from blown fuses to destroyed computers.

Very basic explanation because doing this in your truck may result in completely different things happening in my truck. Fuses first then go from there and if you're not comfortable after fuses call your mechanic.

Could more then likely be your starter relay box

Did this on an older Toyota pickup and same thing you're describing happened. Blew the big 80a fuse under the hood in the fuse box. These are screwed in, and you will break the shit out of them trying to pull out with pliers....trust me.

Check these that I circled:

 

Yup. The 120a alternator fuse is blown

 

Awesome hopefully that gets you going again.

 

Okay well i didnt think this fuse would be so pesky... Its like its glued in there!

 

Its bolted in, underneath. You need to detach the entire fuse-block assembly to gain access to the bolt(s).
Not an easy job.

Welp. 400 dollars later, Trucks fixed. Got new terminals and fuse and links. Fires up like a charm but has a different noise while it runs. Whats really irritating is the fact that my radio seems to not work... Hope i can get it fixed before i road trip down to florida for my leave period

 

400$? How they fuck?!?!?!

 

Have you finished checking the rest of your fuses, or did you stop after you got that one replaced? Your fuse for your radio could be blown as well. Check the rest of your fuses if you haven't done so already.
