Would it be stupid to put coil overs on just to level the truck?

This is my first ifs vehicle so I'm still trying to learn. I want a good ride since this is my dd and I don't want to go crazy since I already have an XJ with a 5" lift as a toy.

I was thinking about buying some Fox 2.0s and installing them without adding anything to the back. I tried searching but didn't really see anyone that wasn't adding an add a leaf or new packs. Would this work and is this practical? My main concern is keeping the alignment in spec and then just to level it

If all you want to do is level the truck, look into a Bilstein 5100 shock. It is height adjustable, affordable, and the ride is good, IMO.

I figured the ride would be a lot better with a coil over that's hardly compressed. I'm just not really sure what route I want to go. All I really plan on doing with this truck is pavement pounding and driving a couple trails to deer camp.

Fox's will give you a nice ride set to 0 to 1 inch of lift.

^This is a good option, if you got the coin for it.

Lot's of options to choose from.

Not a bad idea OP. Most of your weight is probably in the front so this will do exactly what you want and improve ride.
Biltein 5100 will level it too for much less $ but the ride is kinda crap. Ask me how I know :D

One more question. If I went with the fox coil overs, would I still need to get the spacer for the drivers side to correct the lean or would you set one of the coil overs more compressed than the other? I have a feeling that the spacer is the correct answer

no, they are adjustable so you can just crank the driver side a bit more

I think it's a good idea. It will improve ride on those light trails, and level the truck. Here's another option to not overdue it:

    OME 885 coils
OME 90000 shocks OR Bilstein 5100's set at 0

You won't get a huge lift, but a nice level, and there will be no spring preload. You'll have a more robust front suspension that sits about 2" higher than the rear, and will ride nice on the trails. Throw an AAL on the rears and you'll have a slight rake but good clearance all around without going hardcore on the budget or equipment. Good reliable non-flashy stuff that lots of folks use on these trucks.

Definitely get a 1/4" top spacer for the driver's side to correct the lean, and if you go with the OME shocks, do NOT get the 10mm trim packs.

    1) You don't need to get the spacer with fully adjustable Coilovers like Fox but you can to keep full shock down travel but the spacer will also move your shock down possibly making it bottom out BEFORE LCA hits bump stop. This might not be much of an issue with only a 1/4" spacer
    2) AAL in the rear doesn't really give you clearance, it allows for bigger tires which will give you clearance

Now I'm considering getting the fox 2.0 shocks for 0-1" lift for the rear to go along. What have I done........

No, do not use spacers with fox coilovers

Thanks, Captain. Just trying to give him some other options instead of ponying up for Fox.

Yeah I already have a Jeep that needs a few grand in suspension and tires

Meanwhile I order the weather tech floor mats and $500 wet Okele's for my truck through group buys. Thanks TW:p

I ran my 2.0 SAWS for a while before doing anything to the rear springs. You'll be fine. If cost is not a concern go for it! :)

Nothing wrong with it besides the slight preload. OP was just looking to level his rig and upgrade from stock without going crazy on it because it wasn't to be his trail rig.
