If I would not have been brain washed on how great the chevy colorado was going to be I would have bought a 2015 Tacoma. Guess things worked out for the best as I'm happy with my new 2016 Tacoma.

They need to do something extra-ordinary with the Ranger. I hated the one we had.

My brother bought one in 2011 as the final production year. Paid something near 22k for a 4 cylinder with basic radio no power anything. Worst. Truck. Ever. I borrowed it to move once. Even loaded down the ride was awful. I've never been so fatigued from a 2 hours of driving.

He loves it...but then again he is a man of extraordinarily simple tastes (plus he only drives it 1-2 times a month since he is provided a work truck). He plans to buy a property with 5 acres or so, I'm sure it will become his property truck and hopefully he gets something nice for himself.

Let me start out by saying ive been a loyal Toyota owner for over 30 plus years. Ive owned a corolla a Tacoma an fj cruiser and now a tundra.I want to downsize due to my age and also financial situation so I test drove a Tacoma 2016 double cab today. I'm gona get ripped but I must sday I'm thourghly disappointed in the tacom that 3.5 sucks!!!!!! my old 2.7 4 banger has more balls than it. Starting out from a stoplight it crawls the torque seems horrible its also noisy I have a tundra 4.6 that's like a jackrabbit compared to the Tacoma. The quality is there but the performance is not!!!!!I love the look the seats are fine the seat adjusted up or down is a non issue no vibration but theperformance is just plain awful. So to sum it up I think I will keep my tundra it like a race car compared to the Tacoma and the mileage isn't a whole lot worse. Foe 38k to 40k I expected more from Toyota.

I would of kept my 1991 Ranger 4X2 Manual but bad left knee persuaded me to move to a automatic. I miss shifting but the pain was unbearable.

I decided to delay the purchase and let them iron out the bugs. As much as I have new truck itch, I don't need to buy this year, and I hate getting into "they all do that" issues aka noises or vibrations.

The 2016 DCSB O/R MT we test drove (and the only one we did) had unacceptable whistling noise - we hard it at 55-75 mph. Dunno what it was I did not care for it.

Ive had my DCSB OR for about a month or so. Almost 2,000 miles on it and I am a former FJ owner. I can understand where you would feel it's underpowered compared to a Tundra - even a 4.6L. But it's not meant to compare with that tuck. Compared to the FJ I have no complaints about the Taco at all. I love the way it drives and I feel it has adequate power. No it won't blow you away in 0-60 times but I think it's great. I have gone back and forth between 87 and 89 octane and tracked MPGs as well as perceived performance and I think the truck feels much better with the 89 octane and here in DFW it's around $1.99 so no big deal, for now.

    I get about 1 mpg better with the 89 (19-20 vs 20-21)

I haven't had any problems with my truck but I also don't turn my radio off to try and listen to it whistle or determine how bad the road noise is - if that's your deal you should probably look at something else I would say.

To be honest, the problem with the 4Runner is that it's an overpriced, overbuilt luxo-box.

If it was exactly the same as the Taco with a (very short) bed with a camper shell integrated, at reasonable markups (say, 1k over the same Taco), I'd get one in a heartbeat.

Oh wait, we had one of those before. It was the 1st gen 4runner. And those were awesome.

I currently have a 2008 DCB Off Road 4X4 with 58,000 miles. I had a chance to drive a 2016 DCB Sport 4X4 with a sticker price of 39k. While it was nice I just could not bring myself to part with my 2008. Car Max has offered me 23k for my 2008 so going to the 2016 would not be that bad price wise. However there is no discounts on the 2016's here in San Diego County. I have had my 2008 since June of 2008 and I have a company vehicle for work and the Tacoma sits parked and covered for the most part. We also have two other vehicles not including the Tacoma. The one thing that I really liked about the new Tacoma is the projector beam headlights. I have the LED headlights on my 2015 BMW M3 (F80) and I really like the way they light up the road.

If I needed a truck I would have bought the Tacoma. I like to have a pickup but its not like I earn a living with it. In the end I decided on something else and will probably come back to a Tacoma in a year or two. The main reason for not getting the Tacoma was availability in the configuration I wanted, some fit and finish bugs I think they need to iron out, and the lack of some of the smaller features that I think they will be adding. I think they did a great job...if I could have got a m/t in a limited I may have been persuaded. It's still a great truck, and for my area I was able to get a good offer on one close to my preference (+500) but I am also cheap, and because I like to buy new cars often I usually only buy under invoice to lessen the blow around trade in time. I guess that factored in as well.

Good luck waiting for a fix, this has been going on since 2005. Sweers the product manager, says it's fixed on the '16, multiple threads say, still a problem.

On your test drive, also check for transmission shudder, mysterious wind noises and scratched plastics in the new interior.

Meh, $39k sticker for a trail edition premium isn't ridiculous. It is maybe $2k more than a Tacoma similarly equipped.

To put car buying into perspective, my wife is planning on buying a new Mini Clubman and that thing is going to sticker at $37k after options. SMH. That said, she has had her current MINI for 11 years now and she takes care of it and loves it. We've just outgrown it.

I thinking along the lines of a small Raptor ford's performance division has been hitting home runs lately...New ranger will be a Beast...reliable?

My decision to wait had nothing to do with the 2016 Tacoma.

[I think the truck is great and will continue to carry on the high QDR reputation of the Tacoma model along with the subsequent industry best resale value.]

I changed my mind because I didn't need a vehicle, I simply wanted one.
Also with a pending job change, we decided to hold off buying a new vehicle for another year or two.

While we'rewaiting to buy a Tacoma (and we're driving our 2005 Corolla and 2007 4Runner), I hope Toyota decides to add KDSS and a tow controller to the Tacoma and also offer it a Green color, like Amazon Green Metallic (previously offered on the LC200) or Timerland Mica (old Tacoma color).

A Green TRD OR or Pro model would make me run into the dealership screaming "Please, take my money!"

I would love to see green on the Pro models next year.
