WOW, not a problem. Next time a friend at corporate gives me a heads up about something, I will be respectful and keep ito myself.

Hmmm, I just hit 4000 miles and I'm gonna have to schedule my 5000 mile service soon, maybe I can kill 2 tsb's with 1 stone! Should I call the 800 number? Would calling make things go smoother?

If you have an 09, you are covered by the TSB.

rep to 5Sport for bringing this to everyone's attention, and to luni for posting some more details on it.

this is definitely a helpful thread (for the 09 guys at least) so don't drag it down...keep it on topic. thanks

Anybody know if the TSB #'s are the same is in USA/Canada?

My Canadian dealership informs me they don't have a TSB for any sort of Transmission reflash/update.

Was even easier for me. After work I stopped by the dealer just to see if I could get the "look" from the Service Advisor when explaining the problem (response, "never heard of that...", which I did and maybe get an appt setup. But she wrote it up, they took it back and 30 minutes later it's back in my hands freshly flashed.

Works great although, I don't think the in-gear deceleration is as great as it was. Might just be in my head though. I was one who liked the deceleration as it was more manual-like and was worried that they might turn this into just-another-auto-trans. Need to drive it more as I normally do to see what's really what.

Thanks to the OP and those who checked it out first!

Stopped by my dealer today to pick up my skid plate I had ordered. Mentioned to the service lady was she aware of the reflash tranny tsb. She was and even though my truck is a 10 she said bring it in monday and the tech would know for sure if the 09 flash is good enough to use on the 10's. Seemed fair enough to me. Told me she needed the truck maybe an hour and would take me to work and come pick me up. Even though my truck seems okay with the occasional go to 1st on slow turns I might as well do it if it will work on the 10.

Just got the truck back from having the TSB done. It's like night and day. Truck drives soooo much better. Thanks to those that informed us of the TSB and the actual TSB #.

Anyone in Canada get this done yet? I'm hoping to have mine done when I take it in for it's first service in a couple months.

    Cheers.

Very good question. I'm sure that we'll be able to get it done, but maybe there will be a bit of a time lag between when it was released in the States and when it will show up here. I can't imagine it will be long before the dealers here will be able to do the reflash. I checked my VIN and I would qualify so I'll be getting it done. If I can find the time to get it in soon I'll do it, otherwise I'll just wait until my next service is due. I imagine the first couple days after something like this is released you may get different info from different dealers just given that it is so new. If we don't have anything up here after a couple of weeks, I'd be shocked.

My 2010 has had similar symptoms so I took it to the dealership. The 2010 is not covered under this TSB. The tech took it and tried to flash it anyway with no success. Total bummer, its the only thing I don't like about the truck...

The 2010 has the same symtom as the 09. I am sure Toyota just need to update the software to cover 2010 too. I would call Toyota to complain. I've got a case number for my 2010 and am waiting for the dealer to call me. If it won't work, I'll call Toyota back. If you go to some of their web sites (Toyota.letstalk.com, etc..) , they still didn't have 2010 Tacoma listed. I can see some non-Toyota web sites don't have it but hell, this is their own product.

X2. Dealer accomplished TSB in a little over 30 minutes. Very worth doing.

So i happened to be in a dealer today for another reason and i asked about any sort of a reflash. The girl actually got kind of snippy with me cause i knew about TSB's and said that i couldent just walk in and demand work. She wouldent search for anything even though i had the number, because she was positive there wasnt one there, but she had heard that there may be one soon.

I knew i was going to get the same run around that if they drove it and it didnt happen then they couldent do it, and i am sure my truck does it. So on the way home i was trying to figure out how to absolutly make it happen so i can just drive a guy around, but i couldent seem to do it. So i ask what speeds should i be going and what speed should i slow down to to absolutly make this happen?
