Wow man thanks for the awesome info! I really appreciate it! I'm looking forward to getting to use it.

You feel like it warms up your tent pretty well? It would just be my wife, my daughter, and I up in our RTT. I feel like it would warm up pretty quickly. Does the heat stay in for a while after you turn the heater off?

I also have a heater for my tent, the little mr buddy heater with the O2 sensor. Works really well, use it before getting in/out of my bag

Nice thanks for your input Brian. I really like how the heater has the O2 sensor and a tip over shut off. I'm excited to have it for cold camping trips

The tent will hold heat, but very subjective, and a lot of variables in the equation--no two tents are the same etc. Our tent is luxurious and spacious at 10x10. We put the heater in the corner of tent. I usually put it inside of a wire rack to protect it and keep it off the tent floor, but I've run it on the floor with no issues too. We run the heat from about 8pm until 7am. Manufacture instructions say to provide a 9 sq*in hole for ventilation. We vent the tent at the top and bottom. Tent is usually so warm I only use one blanket. :D

Yeah totally understand, lots of variables. I feel like since our RTT is relatively small inside compared to a lot of ground tents, it will warm up pretty easily. Probably will only run it for a little while before bed and then in the morning. Maybe in the middle of the night if it gets cold or something. Definitely have heard lots of good things about them though so I'm very excited and I'm sure it will be a nice luxury to have up in the tent with us!

Okay so anyone who has followed my build probably knows that I've built like 3 bedracks for my truck and I have sold them all haha. Since I have some time off right now and I currently don't have any projects to build for anyone at the moment, I am building a new bedrack, sliders, front plate bumper, and low profile roof rack that will be officially mine and won't be sold at any point. They will for MY truck :D

That being said, I started a new Bedrack today that is a little lower profile so that I can have the RTT be more close to the height of the cab instead of sticking up high above the cab.

Thanks dude! I think it's gonna look better with the rooftop tent close to matching the cab height. It will be a little more aerodynamic thus resulting in a little better fuel efficiency. Also won't have such a high center of gravity so I think it would make it a tad better for tipsy turvy trails. Gonna add a way to mount my high lift to it as well.

Thanks man! I appreciate it. Whenever Northwesttaco sells his canopy, I'll be making one for him and shipping it up to Washington.

I know it'll be about $150 or so to get mine so probably $250 or so for you

I'd say that's probably a good rough estimate

Added a bunch of stuff. Cut to fit 285 AT3’s
My first run at building a rack I went maybe a little lower than yours, trying to get the tent to be the same height as the cab. With worked out really well as far as that went. But I quickly found that one of the major benefits of a RTT is the area under the tent and my design ended up being about 6" to short to comfortably fit myself under. Mind you I'm 6'2" and my truck might not be as lifted as yours and defiantly has a bit smaller tires. Now that the tent is mounted on top of a cap it's all god and makes a great place to cook dinner when it's spitting rain. Those are just my little observations.
And your rack looks really nice! Can't wait to see what you cook up for a bumper. Are you gonna go with a plate only bumper or a bit of hybrid tube work?
    Cheers

When I built my first rack and had the tent coming off the back it was super cool being able to chill under the tent and cook off the tailgate and stuff and be covered. With having a little kid now, I think it'll be a little more manageable having things a little lower and I will be bringing my 8x8 canopy on trips from now on, so that will be our coverage. I thought about the same thing you're talking about but now that I'm gonna bring my pop up from now on, I don't think I'll need to worry about the coverage. And I appreciate the nice comments on the rack. I'm excited about this one. I'm adding some little extras to make it my own. Also very excited about building my new bumper. Planning on full plate bumper.
