I ordered an ACDelco pigtail. I want to say it was all most $30.
I wish I would have known about mousers
It looked identical to the picks above.

I have my blower motor on the bench and is drawing more than 12 amps, this seems a bit excessive. I need to know the OEM requirements for this motor, does anyone know?

Had the same issue with the blower working intermittently on first three speeds, yet always on high....found this thread. Purchased OEM pigtail and resistor in brand new OEM packaging on EBAY for about $45 shipped. Just replaced today and just as pictured in previous posts, the "C" terminal was burnt. Cut off old pigtail, soldered new pigtail on...wait for it.....wait for it.....Voilà! Functions perfect now. NICE! Thanks Tacoma World Team!

Last year I completed the overhead compass/temp guage repair...This site has paid for itself already. Wait, its free, perfect!

 

Just gave the "prongs" on the resistor a slight kink with some pliers and I was back in business at all fan speeds instead of just high.

 

A buddy of mine is basically having the exact same problem with his '07 Tacoma. He is not so much having the issue of the blower motor only working on high, but instead it will not work at all sometimes. He will smack under the glove box a few times and it usually starts working again. We already looked at this, and replaced the resistor, but he is still having the problem. I do not remember noticing the connector appearing burned, but I will have to have him look at it again. Unfortunately, it's really hard to troubleshoot since the problem is so intermittent, and will either work or not work for no apparent reason. Besides the connection at the resistor, is there any other connections to check? I know he would really like to avoid replacing the blower motor if that is not the cause of the problem.

 

My 14 was back to the dealership three times and all 3 times they replaced the resistor board when it was under warranty. My harness does not show a burn mark, but the terminal is bad. I have a small sponge under the harness connector that I used for a quick fix on a hot day, and its been working ever since!

 

I just talked with my buddy again today, and he said he has tried moving the connector going into the resistor board when the A/C was not working, and it did not make a difference. The only thing which seems to get it running is bumping under the glove box like he has been doing. This makes me think even more it could be the blower motor itself causing the problem.

 

I'd pull the motor and check it manually. Might try taking the fan off and cleaning it and the motor.

 

Thanks, Sandman614. I'll see if he wants to give that a shot. I think that would probably be a good idea that way we do not replace it if it is not necessary.

 

Wonder if this has caused a fire yet. Seems like it would take that for Toyota to recognize that there is a real problem.

 

Mine looked like all the other photos posted, black and burnt! I wanted to replace all the parts but it was hard to find them at one place. I ended up purchasing the male connector from Mouser (pn: 829-12129565-B for $1.93) and the resistor from RockAuto (pn:4P1650 (JA1772) for $21.79).

 

My 2007 Double Cab is doing the same as your buddy's Tacoma. A little bump under the fan, or just slightly moving the fan itself, gets it going. I'm taking the fan out, and cleaning it now.... I'll keep you updated

 

I used the information in this link http://ncexped.com/tacoma-fan-switch-not-working/ to help with cleaning the fan motor in my truck. As the link explains, TAKE EXTREME CAUTION taking the motor housing off, being careful not to damage the brushes in the housing. With that being said, it's not a difficult task, just take your time and use common sense. My fan motor was filthy with copper/metal dust. I cleaned and reassembled the fan motor, and so far everything works like new. I'll post updates after awhile to let you know if anything changes. Thanks for sharing info everyone

 

So as mentioned above, I replaced the resistor and the burnt pigtail. I plugged it in without bolting it in its spot to make sure it worked and voila! However, once I bolted it back into it's home it stopped working and now I can't get it going again. I've checked fuses, wiggled wires... nothing. Any ideas?

 

I'd try tapping the bottom of the motor housing. If the fan starts moving with a little tap, then you need to clean the fan motor like I did.

Yes, so far, all speeds are working fine. Since I fixed mine, I did the same to a friends 2008 Tacoma, and his is working also

 

My buddy and I still haven't had the chance to pull his blower motor apart, he has a much busier schedule than I, but I do feel confident the problem lies within the motor. He has started having this problem more consistently, and I have purposely tapped on the motor itself, not the glove box, and it starts up. I also noticed it made a grinding noise when it first started up.

 

cleaning the motor is definitely your next move

 

Mine07 (DC-LB) quit working on the other 3 speeds this AM and would only run on High.
Made an appointment with local neighborhood wrench who was going to fix it this Friday, but went out and jiggled it and "lo and behold" it came back on all 3 speeds plus High!! Don't know if someone had touched it with their foot or.....???
Anyway it is back on for the time being.
