I work on an offshore supply boat in the Gulf of Mexico (we take supplies out to the rigs) and this is where we come load up drill pipe and such for the rigs. I am in Fourchon, Louisiana right now.

 

I've worked out of Fourchon many times. There's not much to it!

Which company are you working for? One of my old companies was too cheap to spring for the choppers, so I would always end up on a crew boat to get out to the rig. I won't bash on the crew boats in the Gulf after being on one in Nigeria though.

 

Haha I work for Edison Chouest Offshore. The cream and orange ones. Trust me I know the crew boat ordeal. That's how we do most of our crew changes as well.
Where you working now?

 

I'm working for Mammoet, so I'm land based for the most part. We did just decommission a couple of topsides, which were brought in on barges.

I've worked on the Chouset boats before running ROV crews. They have a pretty nice fleet.

 

Land job! Not gonna lie I envy you! Yeah I like them. Good company to be working for. Just wish the oil field would pick back up down here. Got a bunch of companies shutting down and lots of boats being stacked away until things pick back up.

 

I was laid off in January, and started up with Mammoet in July. The slump isn't helping anyone. My old company let half of their staff go.

 

Yeah most of them down here have. Sorry to hear about the lay off. I keep my fingers crossed and pray everyday I get to keep my job.

 

There's no way that welds 3/16". I weld 3/16" at about 140 amps minimum. I wouldn't even trust that thing on 1/8".

Imagine all the skirts you could look up by looking down!

 

Need samm w/ pickles now...

 

My wife made some pickles this year from our garden. I'm en route to the kitchen now
