Stocks are what, 7.5"? They are skinnier than a 285 so he shouldn't need new wheels

Doing good man, got the hell out of San Diego on a fast tracked job offer as a Buyer and a outdoor retail store up here in Portland. Nothing in Boise came fast enough and i found a great family at this store, its awsome. 90 days from job offer to moved with buying house was insane!

Im in a similar boat. Only reason im considering new ones soon is the lack of weight in back of truck without bed. If wasnt for that id trust the tread for a good long while.

My stocks are 16", hence the need.

Price is cheaper so far on KO2 (best is $197, free shipping from 4WD.com so far tonight).
Warranties die once you take things offroad or the vehicle starts looking like ours, of course.
Rims again matter on how much the 34x10.5x17 matters. Coops have the 255 or 285, so not really any need for 17".
Sidewalls should be equal - both 10ply?
BFG has benefit of being a snowflake tire

    Not liking the sidewalls there.

Starting to just think the 285 size is going to happen. The 255 just gets too much of a tap dance feel in the wet right now, and though the 34x10.5 might be great, it's a spendy change for me.

Ohh didn't know that 34x10.5 was only in 17"

Whats the best MTs out there right now that yall had some good experiences on for the weather over here? I'm running duratracs 285/75/16 for a couple years now thinking about going up to 315s mts. I always see ppl run BFG, toyos, good year, and coopers.

I wouldnt call the "very quiet". They are louder than stock. This is on the freeway mind you. Anything under 40 i never noticed a difference stock vs the ST Maxxx. But i listen to the radio 90% of the time on the freeway and at normal volume i dont hear the tires

Honestly, any of the tires you just saw listed on this page is a good tire. Id just do some shopping and whichever one comes in the size you want for the cheapest price...id go with that one

Everything has a drawback. Without looking things up, I'd want to say Toyo, with their drawbacks being cost and weight (translates to poor MPG)

Eh, see my Build Thread sig link. Too many mods to list.
I've been pleased with my Cooper Discoverer ATP's...although never had any others I have nothing to compare them to. Cooper's American, which is a nice benefit. I'll probably look at something like the Discoverer S/T Maxx when it's time to replace them.

Although...Duratracs have been talked about on TW for quite some time as a seeming go-to.

That the only reason I'm betting new tires. I figure I have 1/16 left before I NEED tires legally and I'm sliding all over on wet roads as it is.

Best part about Duratracs are they have the snow flake so technically they are a winter/snow rated tire

Unfortunately, we rarely get snow here in Portland as you know. We have to drive to find it (usually).

Even with 4 sand bags in back, I can break loose on wet pavement if I get on the pedal, so next time around I'll look for something with a little better wet performance since we do get just a little rain here.

Duratracs are magical in the snow.
As far as M/Ts go... I think the MT/R with Kevlar has everyone beat

Oh I remember it too...it was awesome. First year in the new house...had electricity, heat, food, Internet, and TV. All was awesome. Well, except I had no Taco at that time so my Civic just sat in the driveway.

But now...bring it! Well, maybe next year, since this year's El Nino' is supposed to bring us lots of rain but no snow.

I'm a little biased but I really don't like Toyo M/Ts... Just every bro truck runs them

I ended up going with the BFG KO2s in 265/70/17. So far so good!

I'm still a fan-boy of the Mickey-Thompson ATZp3. @BoatRacer was (is?) running those and they have garnered some good praise around the 4x4 community....spendy though.

Also, Mickey Thompson just released the MTZp3 version as well, which in turn dropped the price on the existing (old-style) MTZ, which is another runner-up for a good M/T imho
