I've cleaned my interior with paper towels a few times now and don't see any scratches. LOL. Can you get this in a pic? Maybe I'm not critical enough... I think the interior is pretty nice, seems well put together, and seems relatively rugged to me. Nice change in textures, which is cool for a pickup in my opinion. I probably wouldn't sweat the scratches unless they mess with visibility in the instrument cluster, and maybe don't do again whatever you did in the past.

And yes, I think my sound system is bass heavy for FM radio, I have it turned down a couple of notches and seems a bit more neutral sounding. For XM radio, it seems the mid control needs to be turned down a notch to sound better. It seems like the output is limited for volume, but I could see how on default settings you could blow out a speaker with some boom boom music.

Can't say I've seen this in any of my previous vehicles, especially the 35K+ ones. I like your idea, tell the dealer to order you a 10 pack and get it replaced every time you clean it.

I'm not bothered by the negativity. I have been touching tech and things far more delicate for over 15 years. The reason this surprised me was because it scratched far easier than the Yaris. That I'm not they only one that had experienced this sets me at ease a bit.

As for the scratches I'll get over it. A deer already hit me and I feel that a truck should used for as a truck, not a pristine show vehicle. Heck I have already scratched the bed and put wear on it.

Don't think people are being negative... depending on where they are and the depth, scratches would probably piss me off. Not seeing the issue with mine, but I might not be looking close enough. Like I said, I'm basically using windex and papertowels on the plastic. Might be bad, dunno, but I've done it before and had interiors that looked brand new on 10+ yr old cars.

If the truck scratches from small amounts of dust then its not built to be a truck but a pussy mobile.

Also in addition to using a clean microfiber, I would recommend using some sort of cleaning chemical to "lubricate" the surface. It will not only clean the cheap plastic but also keep from scratching. I use a really expensive LCD/LED screen cleaner. Same stuff I use on my UHD TV

But that will hold dust and dirt, thought we were using compressed air and a vacuum at this point.

Try it, perhaps? Shake it out afterwards? With such a light contact to the panel I doubt that it would damage it (further). Its not a scrubber... just a quick pass

You could always tape plastic over the whole dash and let the dust settle on the cover. The only potential problem that might arise would be getting the tape adhesive off the dash. Perhaps surgical alcohol could be used on the adhesive. Just saying.

I googled 'removing scratches from clear plastic instrument panels'. Jeep, GM, Toyota, Ford, Chevy and others had this problem. It seems to be more of an issue with year 2000 and up.

Any speaker will blow if you pump enough distortion through them. I doubt the base speakers are very high quality nor the amp pushing them. Once you get distortion coming through, dial the volume back. That being said, pretty sure warranty will cover it, with a lecture from whatever dealership you go to.

The JBL system distorts fairly easily, depending on what I'm listening to.

    Good luck.

Maybe I missed it, but can you post pics of the scratches? Unless they're terrible, I'd say it's fairly common amungst all brands. Cheap plastic is the norm these days. I use soft microfiber and windex, and all of my vehicles have had superficial scratches. I'd say get over it.

Ever-increasing interior technology is what sells these days, so automakers are making other components way more cheap and flimsy to keep costs down. It's not just Toyota. I have a 2014 F-150, it only has 11,000 miles on it, and I have cleaned the instrument cluster exactly one time with the microfiber cloth that came with the truck. I took it straight out of the packaging, wiped the "glass" as delicately as you'd wipe a premature baby's nose, and I can already see fine scratches. AAAAARRRRGGGGHHHH!!!!!! I don't fucking care about bluetooth, touch screens or power folding mirrors. I just want shit to last.

yea i posted earlier,i put some scratches in my cluster. i'm trying to get over it, there not really that bad ,but. i will take alot more care from now on, get some more "special" cleaning gear. will try to polish out in the spring, winter moved to michigan today. my 15 is black so i'm on a learning curve. o.c.d. is a pain in the ass. my 02 was silver, you could dry that thing with sandpaper and it would'nt scratch. i took black, but got a great deal.

What next, aftermarket screen protectors like people use on their mobile phone screens?
