Chipped and modded TDI. 150hp, 270ft/lb of torque.

The Taco should have no issues with twice the HP.

That's because you have an A750 trans which is designed for V8 engine use. My 05 Tundra towed 10k and usually stayed in 5th with the 750 (but that also has to do with good hp and tq). 2016's have an AC60 which is essentially a trans suited for 4 cylinder duty and "higher" mpgs.

NICE TJ! I suppose I could flat tow mine to the trail with the TACO.. but I don't mind driving it to the trail. I roll on 33's. Nice in between size.

You mean on the pavement? You have not driven a TJ on any trails I am guessing. Amazing even stock.

Either being pulled behind a vehicle or on a trailer they are the most unreliable vehicle ever made and the leak every fluid none to man lol.

I guess. My 97's got 170k on it, and still runs strong. No puddles under it. If you don't like them, cool. Only solid axle offroader on the market. They are doing something right.

let's not turn this into a JEEP bashing thread. I obviously chose a TACO for a DD over another JEEP.

This is interesting information. Do you know of any other vehicles currently using the AC60 transmission that is rated for towing loads similar to the 2016 tacoma? I understand the tow package provides the transmission and oil coolers but if the initial design application of the AC60 was for
4 cylinder loads I am hoping they hold up long term.

Pshaw. That's a '98 I'm pulling. 150K on the original engine, swapped out for a Hemi and have put another 40K on it without issue.

I can't drive 55. I'd assume those gears make all the difference for your 2nd gen.
