I run Dakars w/ the OME AAL and the upper overload leaf removed. I paired this with the ICON 2.5 remote res. rears and it rides like a champ.

The heavier valving in the ICON's accommodate for the stiff leafs nicely. I.E. when I hit a big hole or bump, the shocks do a great job at not letting the leafs buck the vehicle.

This is exactly what I ordered last Nov from Gotexhaust.com (cheaper than the website prices, they give a pretty good discount)

I wanted the travel on the rear to be a little longer than "extended travel" (I can't even remember what Andy and I discussed over the phone but he handled it with Icon and got them to make custom lengths, prob just adjusted a spacer or something inside)

Wheelers sells 2 types of VS 2.0 rear shocks with reservoir. Regular and EXT. I've been running mine for awhile and have been over al sorts of terrain flexed out, high speed desert stuff, etc. and never have had an issue. Are you sure you have him the part number with EXT on the end?

    Thank you @slcsez2000

That helps. I actually sent the PN CB2027 to a vendor and they told me that doesn't exist. My guess is because it's a custom built shock they were unaware of the PN. Not sure why Scott didn't mention those when I emailed him.

    I appreciate the help.

no worries, I couldn't find it on the ICON website either when I was looking but it is on gotexhaust.com still when I ggogled it. I assumed the CB in CB2027 meant custom built

Yeah more than likely. I found the same one on the SDHQ website with the same description after someone posted the link on another thread.

    @AZ2013
this is my PM with Andy last year....I couldn't remember what lengths I had them custom built but I must have called and asked and never wrote it down:

    Me:
I still haven't had a chance to call yet as I was out of town hunting and for the holidays busy but maybe I can get a call in today. On another note do you know what the specs are on the rear shocks I got custom made from icon? (shock travel, length, compressed etc etc) I didn't see it on the box just "custom length" was written on it.

    Thanks,

    Simon

I thought they were going to be 28 / 17 or somewhere around that. I'm not sure to be honest I told them your ride height and they did the rest. It would be a great question for Brad when you call about the zerk fitting :).

In all honesty..... You might want to talk to Icon about this. I mean, thy are the ones who are building the shocks and should know what's what. When I had questions & called Icon in the past...I spoke with a guy named Brad who was very helpful.
    That's my 2 cents

You can also PM deadhed61 (https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/deadhed61s-build-up.264005/ ) & check out his build page. He's a local guy where I live and has Icon's on all four corners. He has cycled his suspension, rebuilt his shocks himself and knows quite a bit about this sort of thing. He doesn't have Dakars but he does have the All-Pro Expo leafs on his Tacoma which provide quite a bit of lift after the initial install and he would probably be able to advise you. He & I put my Dakars on my truck together.

I agree with you. That's why I contacted Icon and spoke with Scott. A lot of what he said contradicted a lot of what the vendors were saying. That's part of where all the confusion was. I'm getting close to getting everything figured out though. Scott was very helpful and @JDEMELLO has been awesome helping via PM.

At the end of the day - you will not notice a 1" difference in rear suspension droop. I'd be more concerned about proper valving and usable shock travel / proper bump height. If your worried about droop, do a shackle flip and replace the stock shackle with an XJ 1.5" lift one.

Edit: Here's what I found with my research for folks running Dakars when I bought my rear shocks. I went with ADS Racing on the rear because the price was much cheaper for 2.5" w/ reservoirs.
26.8" Extended / 15.9" Collapsed is the Icon spec guys are running.

haha yup, i recall somebody, oh yes, it was me that said that earlier in this thread. as for a specific shock for the leaf pack it really doesn't matter, run fox, icon, one, pro comp whatever you want, they will all work..... there's nothing that says you need icon rears to go with your icon fronts, but seriously don't run shit like pro comp and def don't piss away money on the OME rears as they're too short for wheeling imo.

this is why i said you need to look at lengths, look at the collapsed length on the OME shocks, you can go an extra inch or so longer than that before you need longer bump stops iirc. you're gonna want something in the 26-27 inch extended range, and probably longer rear brake lines also, or simply relocate the clip that holds them..

a good marjority of vendors are half retarded. i can use OME canada as an example from when i ordered my lift from them, they were dead set sure that the 886 were the best front coils for my reg cab.... morons, just goes to show you the vendors don't know their products a very large amount of the time.
