or should I just get 5100s and set them at 1.75'' in order to achieve my desired height?

Yes, approx 2" with 884 coils

That's completely up to you. Some are fine with preloading the factory coils that much.

but the best set up would be 5100s set at 0 with 884s for 1.5''-2'' of lift? having a spring lift is better than a shock lift correct?

I wouldn't necessarily say one is better than the other, its more of a preference thing and ones interpretation of what a good quality ride is. Its preload the factory coils vs. no addition preload of an aftermarket coil with a higher spring rate.

Again this is a call you will have to make on your own. Maybe a decision should be made based on what you can afford or how much you want to spend.

    Salty,

Do you know if the OME Nitrocharger Sport rear shocks fit the 2016 taco? I know there were fitment issues on the 2015 only.

I'm planning on running 5100s all around, set at the first notch up front, 885 coils and a deaver leaf pack. How much tire could I fit with no rubbing? Should I be able to run 285?

    No, and...
You should not attempt to preload those coils by setting 5100s on anything other than 0

Ok so just the coils would give me 2.5 lift. Should I do just an aal in the rear with the 5100s to level it out? And what size tire would fit?

You can do whatever you want in the rear. AAL, blocks , new leaf pack.
You can fit 265/70/17 or 255/75/17 without trimming. Same size you can fit on stock suspension.

You originally stated "Do not use your regular shocks with 885 coils"
I asked you why and you could not provide a response and simply changed your statement.
In addition nor did I recommend this combo, I just simply explained why the two could work together because I have an understanding of the coil and struts design/specifications.

I have no beef with you, but I just don't understand why so many people on here go out of their way to offer advise or make bold statements yet they don't have a clear understanding of what they are talking about. To me its easy, if you don't know just don't offer advise/guidance.

I would think the 2016 Tacomas would have the same clearance issues with the lower mounts, but I'm not certain. Perhaps give ARB a call and see if they have done a fitment test on the 2016.

What I do know is the solution to fit them is rather easy, the tab walls just need to be taken down some via a grinder. Yes I did this for a friend of mine with a 2015 so I do have personal experience with this issue and the resolution.
