What Lift You Got and how you like it?

I am in the market to buy a 04 4x4 double cab TRD this year.
I am trying to do some research on the best lift to buy.
I want to lift it 2.5 - 3" and put on some 33's.
Just wondering what yall have and how satisfied you are with your choice.

First off, don't get spacers! Look for coils or coilovers...

 

yea i was thinking about the coilovers or the spring kit no spacers for shure thanks

There is no better info than that of some one who has a lift installed. Reading vendor manuals will only get you so far

yea spacers are strictly for show... i noticed when i took it off road.. haha... if u plan on taking it in the dirt CO are the way to go....

 

There is a few lifts out there... pro comp and RCD are really nice... what are u looking to do with it..??

 

I got Donahoe Racing in the front and love it.

Well you got RCD and Pro Comp and Fabtech for a drop bracket lift.

Then Kings, Sway A Way, Light Racing, Donahoe Racing (Icon), Fox, Camburg, and Toy Tech for a fully adjustable coilover kit. Then Bilstein 5100, or OME shocks and springs for budget coilover style lift. Any lift over 3 inch using coilovers you should invest into some Upper Control Arms or you will cause damage to your truck. In the rear you can do shackles, Add a Leaf, or a new leaf pack. DON'T DO SPACERS OR BLOCKS.

Since you are a 4x4 I wouldn't recommend going over 3 inches on coilovers.

 

it will be for hunting and for play so i want something durable but rides and performs good.
i was looking at this skyjacker kit but i havnt noticed anyone else with one. P/N SKTOY30KS it cost about $1300

 

I'll be first to say 5100's all around with an AAL.

I have the Toytec Ultimate Lift with the 5100's and AAL. The ride is quite a bit stiffer than stock but you have to expect that. I'm also running E-range Wrangler MT/R tires which probably don't help out with that either. My truck handles great on and off the street with the lift. I don't really mind the stiffer ride. Would definitely recommend it to someone. It can't be beat for the price.

I have the adjustable 5100s and the ride is stiff for me. I can handle it and I take it offroading but I'll be switching to a mid travel setup this coming spring since I have the money. If you can, go with some CO instead of the 5100 adjustables.

 

first time i've ever heard someone not like the 5100's...

 

It's not that I don't likem, it's that I'd like a softer ride, and I doubt anyones gonna deny that more travel and a softer ride isn't desirable. I'm not recommending against the shocks, it's an excellent shock and lift FOR THE MONEY. if you have the cash, I recommend going with some nice coilovers.

 

I have full OME. Love the ride, kind of wish it was about 1" higher so I could fit 34s (I'm running 32s with spacers and could definitely fit 33s), but I don't mind really.

It's great, but expensive (440 for the front, 800+ for the rear I believe).

 

For the Price It was good, after going to DR Coilovers 5k miles later I should have waited to get the DR's instead of spending 200 for the 5100. Ride difference was day and night.

 

Light Racing coil-overs (identical to Icon/DR) with 5100's and an add-a-leaf in the rear. picked it all up used with 10k on them and have put about 5k on them myself. Install was easy once realized what exactly needed to be done hahacoughswaybarcoughhaha I love the ride in the front but would definitely like to get new leaf packs and some icon's in the rear because it is pretty stiff compared to the front right now.

 

i went with the OME old man emu... only does 1.75 - 2 in the front but real nice ride! OME springs in back will hopefully arrive in the next few weeks, they are on back order for 3 months now... ugg!

 

Did you go with the 884's or 885's? What shock did you pair them with?

 

Do you have a gen 1 or 2? The part numbers you are calling out are for a gen 2. The gen 1 part numbers are I think 881 and 882. Anyway I went with the ones that are 0-200 lbs. They are the closet to stock ones. The other one is for trucks that intent to install an ARB bumper or whinch on the front so they are stiffer. IF you put those on I think you would get an uncomfortable ride
