Consumer reports suck. If you want a cartruck, they can recommend you one. They're clueless.

    Um...
...Consumer Reports does not accept any outside advertising dollars. That's what makes them unbiased.

I am still just completely puzzled at this repeated mantra that changing the engine, transmission, interior, and front end of exterior isn't enough to qualify as "new". Just fascinates me to see the logic used to justify that opinion...

Wonder if reviewing a TRD or a Limited with more tech woudlve changed anything. I mean just about any car reviewer compares the top-trims to show what each model has to offer. The SR5 is a great Tacoma, great truck, and has everything you need with a great 4x4 system. But it keeps things simple, whereas the TRDs pump up a bit more tech to stay a little more modern. Maybe I'm being a fanboy but I feel like they reviewed the SR5 just to make it easy to nit-pick.

    Spoiler alert

Why is CR so surprised that the Tacoma rides like a truck? Am I missing something or are there that many people who want a 2016 elcamino?

There is no such thing as a Tacoma upside down on its payments unless you really got screwed up by the dealer!

I whole heartedly believe consumer reports. The tacoma has never ranked high, but has all red dots everywhere. So while they don't recomed it, it does score very high in reliability. That's the most attractive feature to me.

They mention the GM twins. In their review of the twins the first line says, "we really wanted to like the new twins, we just couldn't. "

Consumer Reports is junk, has been for a loooong time. Here's a little info on their "auto rankings"

    http://www.allpar.com/cr.html

Oh, and I don't really care about how they or any other site "ranks" the Tacoma.. that's like measuring the size of your girlfriends dick. It doesn't make any sense, unless it does.. then.. measure away. :notsure:

Ummmm, dude. There seems to be some issues with the article and your post:
    1. The Tacoma video at the beginning of this thread is a driving impressions review
    2. The article (and presumably you, since you posted to it) criticizes CR's reliability ratings
    3. The CR Tacoma video at the beginning of this thread mentions the Tacoma's legendary reliability
    4. CR consistently rates the Tacoma as very high reliability in their publications
So are you saying that CR's Tacoma ratings for reliability are full of crap?
