No. People just want to pick and choose only the good things about their Tacomas. Because anything negative is an obvious blasphemy. Because, Tacoma.

I would imagine readers here "hate" CR for being honest. Toyota makes good stuff, hell our family has two. But they are valued for reliability, which CR goes out of they way to emphasize. But otherwise, are they that superior to everything else? Wellllllll. Harder to quantify. My wife's Camry is...a good car. Nothing else. I know it'll be kicking at 300k. My Tacoma, same thing.

I'm sure the folks over at the Lexus forums love CR.

OK, not even related why the fuck did toyota try to get a 6 speed auto to cycle & shift properly with a 6cyl. ? With that many you KNOW it's close ratio (many upshifts/downshifts) seemingly trying to find a good power curve so the trannies OCD will let up...way better off with the 5 speed (or 4sp/OD ? whatever)..

I'll say I agree with just about every point in the video. They pretty much nailed it and look forward to their in depth review.

Other companies have done it just fine. I find no issues really with the 6 speed auto. Not going to win any speed races, but it's adequate.

Yeah but see, the many shifts & powerband trying to get comfortable is what I've been hearing/reading about, these complaints make perfect sense with my own experience with close ratio transmissions, with a manual you are always in the clutch/shifter, with an auto , constantly on the gas/off the gas while it shifts up & down the rpm range, just nature of the beast, best solution I can think of off the bat is to turn off the OD & forget about it.,

Agreed. I don't think anyone on TW thinks the 3rdGen is junk.

There is a lot who feel the same way as CR does in the video, that is after 10 years its not really much of a change / improvement.

Its pretty sad how some fanboys take any criticism of their truck as personal. Its not about them or their choice but about Toyotas lack of effort.

What I am curious to see is the next gen Tundra.

With domestic full size trucks having some great technology in their engine, I wonder what Toyota will try to level the playing field.

I believe Toyota thinks people will always buy reliability as a main factor, but with Tundra MPG so low, I want to see what they try. There is no way they will only have V8 options on the next gen.

Gonna run a diesel and that'll be available in the fourth generation Tacoma in 2026.
