At this time I can not discount the trucks $1000 of MSRP. Most dealers are staying very close to or at MSRP. Some are adding mark up. or dress up items to pad the profit margins, warranty's, etc..

My real name is Hanh.... grew up with the friends/buddies calling me han solo...

The trucks are just flying off the lot here at Longo.

You did a great job with your deal.

My local dealer is still holding at $2k over MSRP. I also noticed that even though it is a smaller dealership they have 4 nicely optioned trucks in stock where I believe most dealers are selling the more desirable models almost as soon as they hit the ground. 30 minutes south they are selling them for MSRP. Maybe I'm missing something.

I still have my order at Toyota Pasadena for $500 over invoice. I am STILL waiting for my truck! Build date was 10/29 and Dealer Daily has not been updated since then. They said something about they are having trouble with the trucks clearing customs from Mexico. Not sure if that's what the hold up is. They said they have heard nothing about Mudguards being backordered. I guess getting a good deal means waiting a long time for delivery. I have already started looking for backup trucks. @HanSolo@LongoToyota do you have any DCSB OR 4x4 with HH package in Black with Graphite interior coming in?

New Southern California Taco. A little over 42K out the door. Will post some better pics later today. Liking all the Tech package stuff that I thought I didn't need especially the sunroof. JBL sounds good but nothing special.

I understand this is for Southern California but there is hope. The 7568 is super hard to find here as well.
I received a call from my salesman (Toyota Direct, Columbus, Oh) on 11/4 with information that this Tacoma was available (DCLB OR w/tow, P&T and all season mats). In their system the truck was listed as sold but my salesmen inquired about the truck and found that it in-fact was not sold. She ask if I was interested and I replied yes if she could match a quote I received from Kingstoyota (near Cincinnati- they have crazy low prices). She matched the quote and I placed a $500 deposit over the phone. I signed the papers for the truck on 11/6 and took delivery on 11/12.

The MSRP was $38220. The absolute invoice on this truck is $34775.20 (with holdback). I bought the truck almost exactly between the absolute invoice and MSRP or $1700 under MSRP.

Maybe its because the color isn't popular- but I think I was fortunate and I love this truck and the color.

Cool truck... But this is the southern California thread. We're finding it hard to find the truck we want at all.

Dealers in socal are "transparent" about their Tacoma pricing. There is "demand" and not enough "supply". These trucks require an "addendum". This isn't the "90s" when you could "order" what you wanted. "Tube steps".

The guy who bought my first gen Tacoma was partially motivated to buy so he could get a dog.

I've been thinking about the Hero 4. I have a 2 and a 3+. Crap, bastards already have me hooked.

Toyota Tacoma: The worlds best and most expensive GoPro accessory!*

*well, there's probably some drone that's actually better, but my way makes for better ad copy.

I have the original Hero and she hates pushing the button over and over to change a setting. She kinda wants it, too

We listed my Sentra of Craigslist today. In 2 hours we had 9 people inquire about it. Seeing the most serious guy about it right now. Trying to get 2k for

I listed the car around 3pm.... got several messages.... just got home from selling it. 2004 Nissan Sentra, terrible exterior and interior condition, ugly but useful bike rack, great engine and transmission(I drive like a grandma). 1800 bucks and I kept the sub and amp from the trunk. Probably get 200 for the combo.

I was sad to see her go. I was the only owner and I had driven it since it was new.

As previously mentioned, I have a Tacoma on order in Sunnyvale with delivery "2-4 months" and no VIN or defined build date. I was OK with that because I got a very good deal and I was going to get exactly what I wanted. Fate intervened.

    (*tl;dr see below)

Yesterday, while driving home from the holiday we pulled off in Salinas to switch drivers. My wife couldn't find a place to park so she went down a side street. It was that huge car dealer metropolis and she joked that we should keep driving until we found the Toyota dealer. As we drove along, I spotted a semi full of Tacomas being unloaded in front of the dealer. I pointed out one that was quicksand so my wife could see what the color looked like in person. She asked if she should stop so I could "pet it". I, of course, thought that was a great idea. While walking over, I realized the quicksand truck was a Limited, which wasn't what I was after. Just then, the driver pulled off another truck and I saw that it was a white DCSB TRDOR. Then I noticed it had the tech package. I walked back to our van and said that I would ask about the white truck just for the heck of it, but I was sure it was sold.

Just then a salesman came out and asked if I needed any help. I said I saw the white OR but I assumed it was already sold. He checked into it and confirmed it was not sold. Uh-oh. Then we walked around to the prep lot to check it out. I said, I was holding out for JBL, but when we peaked in the truck, it did have the JBL system. At this point, I'm reeling because other than the color, this is exactly the truck I want. Well, it didn't have the accessories I wanted, but at least it didn't have a bunch of marked-up stuff I didn't want. I can add all the accessories later. Also, it had the orange dash trim, which was a little odd, but I figured I could live with it or change it out. I was OK with the white color, so here we go.

My pitch: I have my exact desired truck on order at $750 over invoice. It's out a few months but I'm OK with that. You have a truck that is close enough and I can have it today. I'm willing to accept the differences to get the truck earlier, but I want the same price. I wasn't planning on buying a truck today, and I can leave and be no worse off than I was before I walked in. My family is out waiting in the van. What can you do?

I was *sure* they were going to say MSRP or maybe MSRP-$500 and nothing better. But they took me seriously and after less than 30 minutes of checking this and that and talking to various folks, they agreed! I was actually pretty shocked. I didn't have my financing setup or my down payment handy but they worked around that. Essentially I have financing setup through Toyota that will go into effect if I don't provide my own financing within 5 working days. Seems reasonable.

So I have the truck and it's great. I love all the features and I'm glad I went for the tech package and JBL.

I'll point out that I usually have good luck with sales folks. I am respectful and I recognize that it is their job to (try to) sell me stuff at the highest possible price so I don't get upset when they try. I also don't feel bad if I don't buy what they are selling. There was no paint protection or extended warranty sold to me that day, but they did try. That's their job, and I let them have their shot. I did not consider them high pressure at any time and the numbers they produced were straightforward. I worked with two salesmen and the FI guy and they were all easy to work with and nobody pulled any BS.
    .
I'm not sure they would offer the same deal to someone else, since I had a pretty unique bargaining position and they were able to move a truck within 2 hrs of it hitting the ground. If you can find a truck in stock, I would sure as hell try. Heck, I'd give it a shot even on an order. They seem to have decent volume so they probably get a fair number of allocations. I asked them if it was OK if I told people on the forum about the deal and they said it was fine.

*tl;dr: These guys matched my $750 over invoice deal on a truck they had in stock.

    Salinas Toyota 831-444-0700 (main number)

Armando Henderson (first contact, but had another customer waiting. Internet Manager) 831-224-2268 (cell)

Thanks for everyone's input on this thread. I'm sure it saved me some money. Good luck out there. I feel like I have graduated.
