My 08 DCLB is in the shop now getting the TSB. Looking forward to seeing how much better it feels when I have it loaded with the motorcycles and trailer

I have a 2009 dc 4x4 getting tsb done right now! I called the 800 number for customer service, got a case number then i called the dealer with that number. They took about two days and called me back with the date to do the work! so far everything has been seamless.

Wow, after 11 months of fighting with Toyota, three different case numbers, two different dealers, and 14 calls to Toyota, I finally got approval for the TSB. I think the trick was getting a service adviser who had his head on straight. I am so relieved that I no longer have to deal with my truck bottoming out. I couldn't be happier if I won the lotto!

Anyone got the TSB done after 36k? How did you go about this? Or present your case to the dealer or Toyota customer service 1-800#?

I'll bite... i did get the TSB after 36000miles but not by much and I do have a pretty good relationship with the dealer I bought it from and service it at. So they "rolled" a few miles back. I was just honest about the whole deal.

I did get the 4 leaf pack and the shocks as well. The truck feels much better and I'm looking forward to towing the bikes/trailer soon.

ok i just want to clarify because im getting confused here. TSB leafs are four packs correct? so why does the OP have three pack leafs? i thought they come with three pack leafs, then upgrade to four.

my 2010 prerunner only has a two leaf pack..

You should have a three leaf pack - two leafs with a helper spring.

The OP has a 4 leaf pack - three springs and a helper spring. The helper is the one on the bottom that is not attached at the front with the other three.

OK, forgive me if this has been stated on here already. I have an 09. I was at my stealership the other day for an oil change and asked them if I needed the leaf spring TSB on my truck and they said no, that it has been corrected on the '09's & '10's.

Anyone know if this is accurate info? Also, I have not had any problems bottoming out carrying a load in the bed yet so maybe the stealership is correct.

You are going to have to fight your ass off for this. Toyota did update the bump stops for '09 so the "impact" when hitting them is less harsh, but they didn't change the springs at all. Stick your head under there and look at the part numbers - they will match the affected parts listed on the TSB.

Call the 800# and bitch at Toyota. Make sure you use the words "harsh ride when loaded." It took me many calls, three dealership visits, and 11 months to get it approved. One thing that helped me was showing them the marks on the frame where the bump-stops had physically made marks from repeated hits. Just be persistent. Good luck!

For some reason, some with the three leaf pack do not have any problems with their truck bottoming out. If you're not, then you don't need to worry about it.

If you feel you need it done, when you go in mention "harsh ride" if they say no, try another stealership and/or call corporate and mention "harsh ride" and your springs have the same part number as the ones on the '08's...

Read through some of the threads and see what others have done...

Not everyone has had to fight for this... some have just gone in and mentioned harsh ride and it's been done. You've just been one of the unlucky ones.

    Yes...

some people have put non-stock springs on their trucks, those could be the 4 + overload.

When I brought my 08 in they hadn't added the 08's yet. They told me the same thing, 'it has been corrected on the 08's'. I showed them that the part #'s were the same, but they didn't care. I had to call Toyota a couple times but they reluctantly finally did it. When I brought the truck in the mechanic even bitched and said 'Why are we doing this, the TSB doesn't even apply to this year of truck?' In any case, the dealerships don't know what's going on so when they see that your year of truck isn't on the TSB they just assume that it's fixed. Don't trust them.

i just went to the dealer today and told them im having a harsh ride and bottoming out over bumps with 2 dirt bikes in the bed. they told me there was a TSB for this issue (i played dumb!, saying "Oh.. really? im glad i came in, thanks so much" they didnt even put my truck on a lift, just a visual inspection!. they said my new parts are on order will be installed in 3-4days! i attached the most recent TSB as a PDF file.

Got the TSB done today. :yay: The ride is firm but that is the way it should have come from the factory.
