From reading lift threads til I was blue in the face, most are going to advise against stacking lifts which is what 5100's set at anything other than 0 with stock springs and a spacer would do. 5100's compress the spring which can affect ride quality especially on the off road models which have (or at least had on 2nd gens) progressive springs that get stiffer as they're compressed. Top spacers like in the OP don't compromise ride quality but increase the total length of the shock assembly which can be bad news (see below) unless you extend your bump stops since the shock can completely compress otherwise. https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/suspension-lift-info-includes-pics.142677/

So let me ask. Why this person never adjust the bump stop to prevent this?

    It was a simple mod.

They roll it off the lot and throw 6 inch blocks in the back and 6 inch spacers in the front put big 35" XD series wheels on it and voila you have a mini bro dozer :D then shit falls apart, they trade it in and the cycle begins again

I'm sorry, in your state what does a 4x4 trd sport with tech package and tow package cost?

I'm stationed in NJ, that's just a shit ton of money for a midsize extended cab truck, its your truck and get what you want. But I have a hard time believing the resale will negate that initial price. Hopefully BSM, Heated Seats and Wireless charging were worth the $6k difference from a similar 2015.

Tech package was 1400-1500 so I'm not sure where you're getting 6k from.

36k plus tax title and fees. 38k sounds normal to me being a 4 door would be 41k.

Would it make even less sense to you if I said this is my 3rd vehicle also? What other truck should I have bought that would have been a better bargain?

Your missing the point. You paid $36k for an access cab or extended cab midsized truck, that's a shit ton of money, especially given the fact you could easily get a doublecab or doublecab longbed like I did for $31-32k in the previous 2nd generation new, so that's a $4-5k increase for some tech goodies and a supposedly better powertrain, but bones of the same previous gen, again its your money and buy what you want, I have a garage full of new mx bikes that others would question the value of or need. As far as other trucks, though its not a Toyota, for instance Ford and GM both have rebates this month that were $10-15k off MSRP, my coworker just got a 2015 F150 XLT with FX4 package for $33k. So yes aside from brand there are also more bangs for your buck. Take a step back from being a Toyota fan, I know that's hard to do, since this is my 3rd Tacoma and I too am biased at times, but look at an average consumer, do you think that 2-3 years from now when your truck has depreciated they will want to spend $35k on a used midsized extended cab truck that gets the same gas mileage as a full size new domestic truck? That's all I'm saying, this has been my biggest issue with the new gen, $32k for a Tacoma was a lot, now that they are pushing $40k for a midsized truck, the value doesn't seem to be there anymore, but this will just incite a whole new argument from fan boys about resale, etc. At the end of the day its your money to do with as you please. But to get back to the suspension topic, you spent $36k on a truck, there are loads of good informative discussions of why spacers are bad, they are a shit lift and hard on your components, etc. you should invest in your investment and get a quality lift, but again your money your truck.

Ok so in my situation I do not need a full size truck. I do not use it for work or need the extra room inside. U was looking at the ram rebel and decided it was to big.

I would never buy at the ford or gm no matter what deals or holdback they have. So that's out.

Now as for buying a 2015 vs 2016. Yes on a 2015 you would save 4k to 5k. But it's a left over np mater how u cut it. Plus it's now a 10 year old body style. So in 5 year it's retail value will be much less then a 2016.

I don't buy cars or bikes as an investments. They are all loosing investments. It's just a matter of what you want and how much you willing to lose.

As for the strut spacers and blocks I'm done discussing tha with people.
