I got 11 hours of sleep last night so I put this well rested body to work today. Maxed incline bench and hit 260. I don't think I've even ever attempted anything over 205 before. I was feeling it. Kanye's "runaway" came on and my pre workout tingle all came together for a hella surge. I hit 260 and got up and threw my jacket off like it was an elbow pad on the Rock before he did the people's elbow.

Well guys, I have had an unexpected experience that at first I wasn't going to share but I feel that is part of the problem. I have never heard of this prior to getting it.

I recently formed a Pilonidal abscess. Which, for those that don't know, is a abscess that normally forms just below the tailbone. It is typically caused by an ingrown hair and is pretty common for men.

I most likely formed it from an unusual amount of sitting I have been doing recently due to college. I am mentioning it here because its normally found in men that are obese, or in my case, have a squatters booty that rubs. It is EXTREMELY painful and while its not always avoidable, it can possibly be prevented to some extent. I won't go into the details but you guys can look it up (it's disgusting).

I do have a question. I refuse to take the time off from the gym and just lay in bed. It depressing and ruins me as a person. I also understand that I need to be careful. I only had it lanced, so it is not the worse, but I am going to keep workouts that require me to constantly sit or put unnecessary pressure down there to a minimum. I'll be taking the time to build my upper body more as I generally am leg heavy.

What are your favorite standing workouts for upper body? I did shoulder press, dips, pull up, and tricep cable press today.

Yep! I am on antibiotics for about a week, after that it should prevent the infection from returning if it is healing correctly. Once you have it, it is likely to occur again unless you get additional surgery. I am not happy with what the VA surgeon has suggested so I am probably going to be paying out of pocket to get it done right without 6 months of recover and an additional year of discomfort. Hopefully I will easily recover from this and I can prevent a future flare up until I can be in a better position to get the surgery needed (cost is between 6k-20k depending on who I go to). I would have to take a semester off school if I got the surgery the VA wants to give me.

Nah, there are multiple channels. The old way to fix it is to cut it all out. Which leaves a goflball size hole. The wound is then left open and has to be packed daily to allow it to heal from the bottom up. Reoccurrence still occurs frequently so I refuse to be butchered without having a high probability of success. The procedure I want is highly successful and reoccurrence is seen in very few cases. I am able to be walking and sitting within 48 hours as well.

Man that sounds rough! I'm trying to rack my brain on "standing" exercises. Can't think of anything for chest, although I have done bench press using a stability ball instead of a bench. The ball rest on the center of your back and your ass will sag but be afloat so no pressure is on it. That might be one way you can still sneak in some chest press...push ups too I guess get the same muscle group for the most part.

T bar Rows are my fave back day exercise. Sounds like you got the rest covered but I think you are going to be shoulder centric for a while. Good luck! Glad to hear you aren't letting this stop you from the gainzz though! TAKE NO DAYS OFF
