You must become a raccoon predator to save civilization. I recommend a suppressed .22lr. Get an AR15 and .22lr conversion them you'll have a more powerful round too. Don't leave brass lying around, a plastic shopping bag tied around the receiver makes a good brass catcher. Put a little water in the bottom with 5.56/223 to keep the cases from melting through the plastic. Not needed with .22lr.

They are overpopulated because too many people won't solve a problem by killing when needed be it raccoons or isis.

you other alternative is to buy a raccoon hunting dog, they will chase and kill all the raccoons they can find, even if he runs away and doesn't come back he will continue hunting them.

put a fence around your yard and not a single coon will dare enter your yard again and they come in many variety of breeds large and small

I recommend the beagle as the most loving, loyal, smart, and family friendly dog

seriously though, not all dogs make good hunting dogs so you can find a coon dog that isn't a good hunting dog and worthless to the hunters because of that, get it free or very cheap because of that, but they are still going to be trained to hunt coons and be more then good enough to keep coons off your property and be a great pet at the same time.

 

Our beagle came to us as a stray, she loves to run in the woods and chase small mammals. However, unlike cats who slowly and quietly stalk, this beagle will beat the bush and wait for something to pop up.

Oh , if it came down to it,,it would be spit BBQ'd,,but we are not to that point,,,yet. (pray no) Basically carrion with legs,,walking dead,,all that.

Had a medicine ball sized one try to squirm under my last house. He didn't fit quick enough(lol) and the headlights scared him off.

Little bandit bugger also chewed thru the plastic garbage can lid. He got a mouthful of liquid dish soap the next. Win Win Winchester!

This one was not for charity,,they would have refused it. Coon skin Cap? Daniel Boone style? Nope.

 

My problem is then I will love the dog and won't want it to be injured or harmed in any way by the coons!! Dolly would rip 'em to shreds if given the chance - I have no doubt about that. But she'd also definitely get scarred up in battle, then I'd be freaking out worrying about diseases and infections and stuff.

Now, if we could have a pet cougar on the other hand...........

 

Mmmmmmmm, making homemade pizza dough. And prepping toppings - artichokes, spinach, black olives, red onion, alfredo, garlic, mozzerella, and bacon!!!!!!!

And while the dough is rising? Bonfire with scrap wood on this gorgeous cold and sunny fall day, while sipping some Jubelales and grilling some chicken for that pizza. While waiting for the first coat of drywall mud & tape to dry (assuming we actually get it done first!). Yes, we finally got all the drywall up. Time for the really fun part to start.

Had brussel sprouts,,marinated in a garlic oil, smoked/cooked on the slow cooker Traeger. Never had them,, ever,,till last night. Very edible. The crispier almost burnt ones were much better. Hunk of beef cooked on the other side. Leftovers!! yes!. Reheat is some of the best eat.

My refuse oil barrel sprung a leak at the seam overnight. frikkin oil all over tarnation this morning. So that was a fun cup of coffee at 28°. Hrs long bath in gas mopping and fumes.

 

Got our first snow last night. I like howv it covers all the unfinished projects.

 

Freezing fog overnight,which basically laid down like snow just before sunrise. One side of the road de-iced,,but not the other. greased lightening,,did a easy slow 180 just turning into the driveway.

Nice little obstacle course there Kirk,,a few more inches and they will be out of sight,,out of mind spring projects.

 

Hey I know I'm a bit late but around here the meat that tastes "gamey" usually comes from near government lease land. The meat that tastes awesome comes from the center of heavy agricultural areas. A lot of the taste of the meat has to do with what the animal had to eat. If it was trying to eat any grass, seed, etc it could cause the meat to taste weird because, much like cooking, adding everything in the kitchen to the bowl will taste nasty. However, if the animal fed on mostly tame grasses, hay fields, and some grain even then it will taste much more like what people expect. I had elk from a buddy not to long ago and it was by far the best I ever had. He openly admitted that this elk had wondered off Shuffield (military base) to his place some time ago and lived off his hay for a while. He waited until he got a tag and bagged it. That time bulking up on hay really made the meat good.

Aging and rut are important factors too, but if what goes in isn't good the final product is jerky worthy only.

Pizza was good but with all those toppings we shoulda prebaked the crust by itself a bit first. Crust was a little soggy. But, covered in cheese and all that crap, it was still delish overall.

Today I am making split pea soup for the first time, using bacon instead of ham in it, plus some potatoes too. Not sure if I will like this soup or not. You guys like split pea soup? I think it's a color thing - kinda grosses me out. Gonna give it a try though.........

when you load up the toppings you have to put it straight on the rack without a pan or it wont cook the dough right. sometimes I have tossed it onto a big flat pan and stove top cooked the crust the rest of the way, its about all you can do with it not to burn the toppings once its already done.

 

Peas,,disgusting devil vegetable. Makes me retch and gag when I smell them. Always have.
