I went up to Mt hood today. On the way down the hill from Timberline a German Shepherd ran into the road in front of me and I hit it. The owner said the dog was fine. No damage to the truck. I have dash cam video of it. I'll upload it when I get home

A few years ago I was driving by a vet clinic and a cat covered in bandages darted out in front of me in front of the owner and doc. There was nothing I could do to avoid it. It just had $2000 in surgery and was still doped up. I mushed it flat with both front and rear tires of an F-350 full of construction stuff. Felt horrible for the woman, but I hate cats. Another time I hit a peacock doing about 70mph. It was spectacular.

A peacock at 70. Would have been interesting to see.

There was a plume of feathers for a solid 500 yards behind me. I didn't know they could fly till that one landed in the highway milliseconds in front of my bumper. Thud...pooof!

I can beat that :D The first one I think I already shared.

When I was 15, we were headed to Disneyland in the family van when a buzzard smacked the windscreen, tumbled over the top, and landed behind us. I was able to look back and see the buzzard shake its head like it was trying to shake off one too many beers.

In college I was going through a residential at 25. A little yappy dog ran right in front of my Accord and sure enough made a nice 'bump' sound. I got out and surprisingly, dog is alive and laying in a pool of its own piss, trying to bite me. I didn't get much time to worry before the owner comes storming out of his house yelling, "DAMMIT MITZI YOU PIECE OF SHIT!", scoops up the dog, and storms back into the house.

About 3 years ago on 217, a duck swooped down in front of a car and exploded in a burst of feathers. As soon as I was able to say, "holy crap!", a hawk swoops in front of the same car and manages to do some aerial course correction in the last second.

    That's insane!

Glad you and the pup were okay.

Edit: How was Mt. Hood? We were going to go up there today but changed plans at the last minute.

Back in high school I was coming home and hit a squirrel.. Look in my mirror and I see it stuck to my tire.. Get out and the tire tread went through its head and I had to pry it off

Probably to exercise a bit of caution and offer some courtesy for the guy standing on the white line.

    Are floor mats a mod?
My son and his girlfriend hit an owl. It was still alive, so they wrapped it in a towel and his girl friend carried it on her lap in the car to take it to a vet. Then it woke up.
    Hilarity ensued.

Because there are people on the side of the road and as you can see they are moving in and around the road so I slowed down from 35 and moved closer to the yellow.

I hit a deer going 55mph once. Thank God for our love of beefy aftermarket bumpers.

Early 1990s, I was driving on Roosevelt ave about 63rd by the licensing dept shack at 25mph or less in 5.0 GT; cat darted out and I heard/felt the distinct double bump; looked back and saw Garfield scrambling to the side of the road looking somewhat twisted and broken. I didn't know what to do (not being heartless) so I did nothing...
