Just bought a Toyota Tacoma for my first car. Its an i4. Learning to drive stick on it also :) I will probably try and find a place to store the snug top just in case I need it. Here is a pic of her. I'll get better ones tomorrow.

It's an i4, believe me you'll catch all kinds of crap for calling it a v4 around here haha, so definitely stick with calling it an i4. Best of luck with learning to drive stick! It seems to be a dwindling thing nowadays, good to hear there's a new learner out there. Keep your truck maintained well and it should give you many years of use. Welcome to TW by the way. :)

Edited lol thanks. I love how simple it is. The mirrors and locks all mechanical and AC works great. I will look at some of the cheap mods I can do.

Yeah these trucks are pretty simple if you get the base model, mines got the manual windows, locks, and mirrors as well. Just less to go wrong in my eyes. Only thing I wish it had is cruise control. In my case rather than the AC being great I'm happy for good heat haha. Snow in my forecast for tomorrow.

I haven't messed with any engine / power mods yet, mainly because there really isn't much you can do to make these any faster without talking easily 1k plus dollars in engine work. Basically these trucks are slow and they always will be unless you do serious engine work which isn't worth it. So in that aspect just get used to the reliable slowness :p Don't buy into the cold air intake gimmicks, all they really do is waste your money.
For looks it all depends on what you're going for really. Judging by your picture it's a 2 wheel drive 5 lug so it probly wouldn't do too much in the off road scene. Personally I think a nice set of aftermarket wheels helps the looks of these trucks a lot, the stock steelies are pretty boring. All really depends on what you're willing to spend. These trucks are easy to dump a lot of money into with mods.

Yea I don't like the wheels at all. Might put some black ones on but I see a lot of people don't like them. I was thinking about getting a chrome thing around the grill and then the grill in black. I will probably tint the windows also.

On this particular forum chrome wheels are pretty much universally hated for whatever reason, I personally like both black and chrome but I'm the minority around here, but being white I think yours would look good with black wheels. I do like the chrome grill surround a lot though, I think it makes the front end stand out a little. Front tint is illegal in my state but if you can do it in yours go for it. I would if it was legal here.

Its illegal on your 2 front windows? I am not sure about the chrome wheels but I do like black. Even if it's not for off roading, I just like the look of a skid plate too .

Yeah, tinting the front 2 is illegal here. The thing with a skid plate is you'll never really see it haha, but I do agree. I like the look of them too when you can actually see them.

Yep the ones that get about as high as the grill are the ones I like too. I was also thinking about maybe making the bumper white with chrome grill surround and black grill or make the bumper white with black surround and grill.

Actually, instead of making the surround chrome, I think I would like to color match it. Anyone have a link to get the surround off or is it in the owners manual?

Looks to be in nice shape :) Can't help with how to take off the grill and surround assembly, but I'm sure there's a guide on here somewhere.

Yep , I think the previous owner kept it well maintained ,thanks :) I think I figured out how to take off the grill/surround , just need some longer tools to reach in there.
