I have a 2010 Black Prerunner Access cab V6, manual, Sport pkg. on order. (really want a manual, reason I had to order it). Salesman says could be 6 weeks or 6 months?? The guy won't return my calls, acts like I'm bothering him when I call, he might be the worst salesman ever.

I found a 2006 Dual Cab, long bed, black, sport pkg, TRD exhaust & intake, has 55000 mi, they want 20000 drive out. Great truck, just can't get past the fact that it's 4 years old...

Any reason to not get the 2006? Is there allot/any difference in the 2006 vs. 2010. Obviously the new truck is new and has a warranty, but is 7000.00 more.

The plain side says wait, the frosting side says get the 2006.

    Any advise?

imo, 7gran is 7 gran.55,000 miles isnt bad.ALOT of life left in that truck.its all about u though.its what u want. all depends on your needs now.if u need a truck now, then get the used one.if u can wait,go with the new one.7gran differance isnt bad to get a new ride.glad im not making that decision, thats a tough one for sure.good luck to ya.

    Thanks for the advise.

Yeah, my gut is telling me to get the new one. The used one is cool but depreciating as we speak. Sure don't wanna wait 6 month though...

Yeah it is a good deal, it's below KBB and it's here in Houston. Making my decision even harder.

    Pretty much stock
4 years and 55k is alot of use....factory warranty is pretty much gone. I only paid 22k for my access cab 4x4 (brand new) but its a 4cyl. you might want to check other dealers, see if someone has a leftover 09 they are trying to push. You should be able to get the truck at invoice minus at least 500-1k. My truck MSRP was 26k. Invoice was 24k.

The one I have on order is Access Cab V6, Manual, TRD Sport. Drive out should be around 26-27. All the Sport pkg trucks also seem to have the SR5 pkg on almost all of them so you gotta add both pkgs into the price.

I've check all the dealers and no one has a black one with a sport pkg.

Also impossible to get a manual tranny without 4x4.

    back to bone stock.
it is crazy to buy new anymore. let the original owner take the big depreciation hit. new cars have all those fees. the 2006 is depreciating at a slower rate than the new rig. with the fees, and the fact that most of the depreciation happens right at the beginning and tapers off, you would be miles ahead financially if you bought the used rig.

i just bought a 2006 with 36k miles for 19k. couldnt be happier. sure i dont get to enjoy the new car smell, but the extra 10k in my bank account is a better feeling. i dont even have car payments. i fake it, and put the money into a savings account instead.

Nah, the bluebook is 19800. It's a Dual Cab, long bed, SR5, Sport, with the JBL system and all the TRD schtuff.

    They want 18700.

Good truck. Just not sure about buying used....

Get the 2010 these trucks have a high resale value. So you might as well spend a little more and get the new one

I just got a 2007 with the same miles for that price. Hope everything is okay...you do take a chance buying used but can save some $$. Everyone has different views on this but used is fine with me for now.

    good deal! deebo!

carfax it, have a pro look at it...cost a few bucks, but worth the peace of mind. damn, it is a toyota..should be good for years and years.

with my "fake" car payment, i will be able to pick up another car (when the time comes) again, without car payments. i have a coworker that insist on buying new. he takes great care of his cars, keeps the odo mileage low, and then when he wants a new rig, he HAS TO trade in while the blue book on his car is still relatively high...that is is "down payment" everytime. by my math, he will never get ahead. then someone swoops in, and buys his car...and makes out like a bandit.

    be the bandit.

All great points, which is why I'm so back and forth.

I did pull the Carfax on it, clean, one owner, no accidents, all scheduled maintenance, etc.

Back to one of the original questions, how much different is the '06 than the '10. Did Toyota change allot? Same truck pretty much? (they look the same to me) Obviously by the nature of the questions I don't have a truck yet and a total Noob about the Tacomas.

Learned allot from this board, think I've wore-out the search button already.

    Thanks for all input.
