    If you're dividing actual miles driven by gallons needed to fill up, don't see how that could be wrong.

    Google "Hypermiler".....study their tactics. You don't have to do exactly what they do, but look at how they stretch mileage. Main thing is, drive like you have an baby bird under the gas pedal....GENTLE, SLOW, and don't mash the pedal.

    Stock 2015 with 4K miles. I'm typically getting around 18-19. Worst was 17. I've found as I've gotten more comfortable with the truck I'm also getting more aggressive with the throttle. Doing so makes for the difference in mileage. I'm trying to remain dialed back but sometimes ya just gotta put your foot down!

    How many miles are on your truck? Once I got over 10k the engine was "broke in" and I got better mileage.

    I was getting about 14-15. I've got a lift, armor and 275s. I just had my first oil change and it seems better now. Closer to 18, I think things have losened up a little now. How new is your Ride?

    Try 91 or above octane, I've noticed a slight upgrade in power and mileage when using premium. It's a bit more expensive but the way the transmission shifts is better when the motor has more power and doesn't hunt as much, while also increasing fuel mileage.

    Bone Stock.Why mess with perfection?Except...
    My truck is still stock, so driving technique (light foot with rpms under 2500), and type of driving (city vs. highway), are the two biggest influencers of my miles per gallon results. Also, my tires are aired up a little over what the door jam recommends for my stock Rugged Fails. I run (36psi front/32psi rear). Bought what I was told was a pretty decent tire gauge and had my tire shop check it for accuracy. I have a compressor in my garage, so it's pretty easy for me to adjust tire pressure first thing in AM. I try to rotate tires pretty close to every 5000 miles. Keep truck as empty of cargo as possible. I consistently get 18 to 19 mpg. By contrast, my Z71 only gets about 10 mpg. Good luck to you, Mattynokes, in getting your MPGs problem solved.

    City driving - lots of traffic? lots of stop and go? lots of short (under 10 miles) trips? On oem size Michelins I see 18-19 around town (but very little traffic/stop+go) and 20-21 mpg highway (sweet spot seems to be 67-68 mph). This is mileage calculated by ScanGauge with odometer correction of 2%. Overall, Fuelly shows 18.9 over last 10 fillups (have tracked last 12K miles). Best ever was 23 - all 2 lane highway - averaging about 60mph.
    Pre-Runner V6 6speed.

    50,000mi in 9 months?:eek::eek::eek: That's some serious time behind the wheel:wink:

    OP: check your behavior, check your equipment, check your gas: winter blend=less mileage, ethanol=less mileage.
    It's still fairly new. Don't stress over your mpg. Drive it like you stole it! Good luck!

    Hi, Blockhead. I need a tonneau cover. Any idea how many mpg the tonneau cover adds? Would like to increase mpg if possible.

    When I first bought my Tacoma (A year ago tomorrow) I babied it and tried to see just how much mileage I could get. I was getting over my previous truck ('04 Dodge 2500 quad cab, long bed, Hemi/auto) that got around 10 mpg on average. First fill up, I got almost 23mpg. I probably had a million people pissed at me for holding up traffic, but I got extrordinary mileage. By the 3rd or 4th tank, I was "Ricky Racer", driving around with the skinny pedal matted half the time. Mileage dropped to about 15-1/2. Boo....After a while, I started getting used to driving the Tacoma, and wasn't trying to break land speed records....Mileage went back up to around 20. Then I did the Duratracs. I started playing with tire pressures. At one point, I was down around 30psi, and the mileage suffered. Best then was around 16. Then I pumped 'em up to 40. It rode like a brick, but mileage went back near 19 or so. By experimenting, I figured out best mileage and best ride curves crossed at 38psi. And that's where it stayed. Mileage varies with driving conditions, but generally stays north of 18-1/2 to 19.

    Point being.....Mileage varies. There are numerous items that can play into mileage. Not least of which is how you drive it. I've heard it said that no one buys a 4wd Tacoma to get great gas mileage. Let it be said that SOME of us did.....At least we bought it to get a 4wd that we're happy with AND get decent mileage. Don't freak when mileage drops a little, just take note of how you're driving, make subtle adjustments to your style, and give it time.

    BTW, I have an automatic. From all I hear, they can (and will) often get better mileage than the sticks. Again, all depends on how it's driven.
