Morimoto Elite HID System and LED Fogs for your '16+ Tacoma

You need to already have the ballasts to install those. Do you currently have an HID kit installed?

 

I am loving my 6500k morimoto hid kit!

Got it installed the other night, just need to find a better spot to mount the ballasts.

 

There is nothing wrong with the projectors. They seem to have a trapezoidal shape vs. the rectangular you normally get from HID projectors, but it's a non issue because the top end has a very crisp and clear cutoff and a wide beam.
Now to address the movement, you should do this experiment. Park your truck at night, and have someone stand still in front of your truck where the beam is at their torso level. Notice that the cutoff is level and not "bouncing". Now have them walk away and notice the effect that has on the beam height on their back. Is that "bouncing" you are talking about? It will look like the beam is literally bouncing, but it's just a visual illusion. Please do the experiment and report back.

 

Are most people going with the 35 or 55 watt systems?

 

I went with the 50 watt 6500k system. Love it...installed in under 30 mins and it looks great.

 

On another note... Do the low beamd and fogs stay on when you put on the high beams? Worried about longevity for the bulbs with constant back and forth between highs and lows.

 

Low beams stays ON. Either High beams or Fogs. The high and fogs are LED in this kit so need to be concerned about that.

 

Put my lights in today. I drove about 40 miles over all kinds of roads and I did not have any shaking at all!!! I also have the black and red/orange wires that connect to the bulbs.

 

Well running the 6500k 50 watt setup for a couple weeks and there is still shaking over bumps. This should not happen with an HID headlight, especially OE (reference to input on this thread).

I've had & have multiple sports cars that have been slammed and stiffened up so that the slightest road impact would make the vehicle jump airborne and not once has any of those Xenon headlights shook over bumps.

My Morimoto LED fogs are aimed to high so I have to figure out how to adjust them down. I would also like to adjust my low beams down because I am constantly flashed by on coming traffic.Outside of that the look is awesome!!

 

there is an obvious spring with a screw that controls the level of the fog lights. it's a bit awkward to adjust but easier with a screw driver that is short. headlight adjustment was covered a couple pages back by moe i think. i have the same set up as you and they are just really really high output for low beams. adjusting helps some but i have tons of people still flashing me. if you haven't already the vled led for the high beam is pretty great to get rid of the mix match of yellow light with the hids when they are both on. the stock high beam might have a bit more distance than the led though.

So when you guys installed the LED fogs did you screw the one screw in to hold them in place from the front or the back or does it matter?

 

I did it from the rear because that's how it was on the OEM ones. There are two little brackets on the opposite side that keep it from moving forward

 

I'll have to reach down to put them in, I took a few bolts off the inner fender well and couldn't figure out how to get the bottom out. You have any idea?

 

I went with the 35W set up, its plenty bright as it is

 

I did the same thing. Even took off that stupid plastic skirt on the front. I ended up just reaching down and doing it blind. Just use a stubby screwdriver and it's actually very easy

 

I think I will go the same route. Really want *YELLOW* fogs though. Had DDM 35watts in my 4runner and they were great, although they took a little to warm up. Think I will do that again.

 

Debating on taking out my clutch cancel switch since its useless and never gets used. Since i have a manual and have hill assist! And just put the stock oem switch in its place for the fogs!
