What size wheel spacer did you use to get your TRD caps to lay flush?

Anyone with -25 offset have to use a wheel spacer to get TRD center caps to lay flush? If so what size?

    Hi TacomaWorld,

I have to apologize for my late replies here on the forums for the last few months. We recently moved the shop/warehouse to a new, larger location (still here in Southern California, but about 20 miles from our old location). We've also been receiving higher and higher volumes of calls, e-mails, forum messages, and orders (thank you all for that!), and as a result, we've been much slower than we'd like in replying to forum messages. Our e-mail response times are still very fast, phone response times are instant or nearly instant, and of course we ship all in-stock orders within 24 hours (and we don't accept payment for anything that is out of stock, ever). If you ever need a more immediate reply, please do not hesitate to call us anytime:

1-855-WHEEL-00 (943-3500) - Toll Free in the U.S. and Canada
    1-951-735-1100 - Office (Local/International)
1-714-390-9387 - Cell (Call or text anytime)

or e-mail: FNWheels@gmail.com. You can also stop by, but we recommend calling before stopping by:

    930 N. Elm Street #12
    Orange, CA 92867.

With that said, please let me respond, comment and reply to questions below:

You are so very welcome @TjAlmeida ! If I had a truck like yours I would constantly be looking back after parking too. It's hard to get tired of looking at such a beautiful truck.

That is not me / us directly, but it is someone that is a shop that is authorized to sell our wheels. They sell on EBAY mainly to take care of customers outside the United States who want to pay using Paypal (we accept international orders, but we do not accept Paypal).

That particular wheel in that link is a special Jeep Wrangler JK fitment that we built (although we primarily specialize in Toyota trucks).

In the photo that you're referring to it actually looks like a fairly normal amount of wheel weights for BFG All-Terrain tires. It's been my experience over the years that BFG A/T KO tires tend to call for more balancing weights than most other all-terrain tires, probably because of the heavier construction of the BFG A/T KO / KO2.

For black wheels I do offer black wheel weights too:

These weights have the added benefit of using a special adhesive that doesn't leave behind residue like normal stick-on weights.

Thanks for your inquiry @NDNCAR ! We actually have an exclusive dealer in Canada that can provide fast shipping, excellent service, and even better prices (for our Canadian customers) when compared to ordering from the states and paying customs, brokerage, exchange rate, etc. Please let me know if you have any tech questions, but for all ordering inquiries (or they can answer tech questions as well), please contact:

Hi @MadDaddy - We keep black small diameter, spline drive lug nuts in stock (just like the ones you see in the photos). :)

The flat OEM center cap part number from Toyota that is compatible with our wheels is PTR18-35092. We have them in stock as well for $10 / ea, and we can ship them together with the wheels with no extra charge for shipping. The OEM caps are directly compatible with the 16x8" / 0mm offset and 17x8.5" / -6mm offset Five Stars. The OEM caps do require some modification to work with 16x8" / -25mm offset Five Stars.

Hi @rkarabao - You do not need a wheel spacer to use the flat caps, but you do need to modify the included caps if you want to use the flat caps with the 16x8" / -25mm offset Five Stars. If you have 16x8" / 0mm offset or 17x8.5" / -6mm offset Five Stars the flat caps snap right in with no modification.

@MadDaddy - Conical seat (60 degree tapered seat) lug nuts. We recommend small diameter / spline drive lug nuts, and we have them in stock at all times.

Looks awesome @da35cent ! We love it, and thank you for sharing! Thank you again very, very much for ordering too! What a great looking truck, great stance, wheel/tire choice, and lift. Everything came together perfectly. Very functional!

Hi @Dcsleeper408 - The truck in the photo belonged to member @hokiruu . He sold it about a year ago, but his for sale thread with all of his specs are still up:

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads...ab-4x4-v6-auto-trd-built.324055/#post-8543653

He had an OME 3" lift with our 16x8" / -25mm offset Five Stars and 265/75R16 Toyo Open Country MT tires.

Thank you so much @Tacoosauce !

I agree @Sommes . The current exchange rate doesn't seem too fair, but we do have a dealer in Canada that can help you out. They are offering very competitive pricing, and all of their quotes are in CAD.

Love it @Tacoosauce ! Your truck came out great! Thank you again!

Thanks @MadDaddy . The first two wheels are actually a different version of the Five Stars, which are directly compatible with OEM cap part # PTR18-35092. The next few photos are the 16x8" / -25mm offset Five Stars which have the cap that we included modified to accept the aforementioned OEM cap. Here is the link on how to modify that cap:

    NYCO Build Thread

Hi @PNW_Offroad - The 16x8" / -25mm offset Five Stars will fit your truck with stock suspension and 265/70R16 tires (even aggressive 265/70R16 tires). You might have minimal rubbing on the front mud flaps / bottom portion of the front fender liner with the steering wheel turned towards full lock, with the suspension fully loaded, or with the wheel turned sharply while the truck is in reverse. This can be remedied by removing the mud flaps and/or trimming the bottom of the fender liner (2005-2011 Tacoma) / removing the flap from the bottom of the fender liner (2012-2015 Tacoma). The rubbing would be so minimal that you can probably ignore it as well, and it wouldn't cause any problems.

However, with stock suspension we generally do not recommend installing the 16x8" / -25mm offset Five Stars because the wheels are too aggressive in terms of aesthetics. The low offset pushes the wheels outside the fender, which looks great on lifted trucks with larger tires, but it doesn't look quite right on stock suspension trucks with stock sized tires.

With stock suspension and stock sized tires I would recommend that you consider the 16x8" / 0mm offset Five Stars. It will be a much better look and a better fit. You also will not have any rubbing whatsoever.

I sent you a PM with more details and explanation. Feel free to reply or call/e-mail/text message me if you have more questions.

Thanks Rob. I agree (as stated above).

Love it @MadDaddy ! Thank you very, very much. You made a great choice going with matte bronze and silver. Originally I was unsure of the color combo, but now that more and more of you guys have done bronze with silver it's really grown on me. The two colors compliment each other really well.

Awesome! Your truck came out great @Nsane1 ! This color combo (bronze + blue) is one that I have always liked!

Hi @tincan - I am sorry that our website didn't make a better impression on you. We've worked hard on our website, and we do pay a service to keep all of the SSL certificates and software up to date. However, we are in charge of keeping content up to date. I generally try to post the latest updates on the forums for you guys to see. Lately our phones, e-mail, forum messages, and orders have been coming in heavier than ever before, and we also prioritize phone calls and most importantly expediting orders. As a result content updates on the website have suffered a bit, especially as of late.

We're definitely not out of business, as is evident from all of the posts from our customers here. You can always call us anytime if you have any questions. In fact, I think we'd probably be able to update the website a little more if we didn't take so much time being thorough in all of our replies to our customers questions and taking the time to walk our customers (and non-customers alike) through things over the phone, but I'd rather we help every customer individually and give them our full and undivided attention than cut corners in customer service in order to have more updates elsewhere. There are a lot of "online only" companies these days that won't even provide a physical address or take a phone call from their customers. We don't think that is the right way to do business.

However, these aren't excuses for lack of content updates on our website. Rest assured we are working on some updates and getting new products on the site right now, and the site should be updated by the end of this year. In the mean time please don't hesitate to let me know if I can answer any questions or provide any information about our products or our company.

Thank you very much for the kind words @Nsane1 ! You are a truly a great customer.

Can't thank you enough @MadDaddy . I appreciate your recognition, and we sincerely value you as a customer.

The 16x8" / 0mm offset and 17x8.5" / -6mm offset Five Stars include flat, flush mounted center caps.

The 16x8" / -25mm offset Five Stars come with a slightly raised center cap (due to the extra concave / extra deep design of the 16x8" / -25mm offset Five Star). If we used a flat cap with the -25mm offset version the center cap wouldn't fit over the front hubs on 4WD Tacomas.

I agree @04DcTaco , that is a tough decision. To make it tougher, I think matte bronze would even look good. There is a faint hit of gold / bronze metallic in the Lunar Mist paint.

Agreed @chowwwww - all of the colors would look great on a Lunar Mist Tacoma.

The wheels in those particular photos are -25mm offset / 3.52" backspacing, which is a little aggressive for a stock suspension / stock tire size truck, but would look and fit great on a lifted Tacoma (with at least 1.5" lift).

Beautiful truck @jimmyrig ! We'd love to see more photos if and when you have the time to post more.

@Cilentbutdedli - Thank you, thank you, thank you! It was a true pleasure doing business with you, and I can't tell enough you how much I appreciate your kind words.

Your truck is absolutely stunning, and those photos are out of this world. Toyota sells enough Tacomas as it is, but I think they could use your photos to double their sales. I have three Toyota trucks and just seeing your truck makes me want to go out and buy another. You've really done our wheels our justice. Thank you again, and thank you for posting your awesome photos.

Hi @rkarabao - No spacer necessary with any of the wheels. The 16x8" / 0mm offset and the 17x8.5" / -6mm offset are directly compatible with the flat center caps. With the -25mm offset Five Stars and the raised caps there is a small modification necessary (see my post above) to make the TRD cap fit. However, the cap won't sit flush within the -25mm offset wheels, because we have to keep the cap raised slightly in order to clear the taller hubs on the 4WD Tacomas.

Thank you so much! You are too kind. :)

Really happy with the new, very aggressive look, I dig it. I went with the 16" (-25) matte bronze w/ BFG KO2 305/70-16 combo. I didn't see a lot of black tacos with these so here are some pics. Thanks FN wheels.

Good to hear from you again @Baoser ! Glad to see that you, your truck, and the wheels are still going strong! :) If you ever want to order a matching Five Star for your full size spare just let me know.

Thanks @Blackie Mc Truckie ! Awesome looking truck. I'm surprised we haven't seen more matte bronze on black too!
