I may be able to FINALLY get a Tacoma in the next month or so. Since we now have 2016s coming out, I was just wondering people's thoughts on the '15 vs. '16.

I won't be using it for off roading or anything. Looking at a double cab, 4x4, auto, short bed. Will definitive need to get a cap, also.

    Thanks!

    Bob

What he said. Read on this site about what other people think and make your decision. Can't go wrong with either.

I have the 15 and the wife is about to get a 16 and the 1990 Hilux is still working well. Can you even find a 2015 without miles on it anymore? I thought they were pretty much gone?

Bob, you might be a little bit late in making your purchase, if you want to buy new. The reason I say this is because the prevailing wisdom says that you should never buy the first model year of a vehicle. With the problems associated with the 2016 Tacoma only now beginning to be reported, this prevailing wisdom seems to be holding true. I won't attempt to list all the problems, but a cursory search of this website, and other websites, will be all you need to understand my point. Having said that, if I couldn't find a new 2015 Tacoma in the configuration I wanted, I would buy a used, low mileage, late model Tacoma. In another year or two, Toyota will have these issues resolved and you can buy a new Tacoma then. Good luck, Bob, in whatever decision you make.

Thanks, gang! I figured I was opening a can of worms, but, ya blame a guy for trying!

I haven't gone to any dealers yet, but I figured they might still have some 2015s lying around...but then again, maybe not...

I'll do some research and test drives.

My brother in law bought a 2015 Taco 3 weeks before I bought mine, so I got to try it out. After that I had the intention to purchase one just like it. I test drove the 2016, and I liked the 2016 interior and options way better than the 2015. True you normally shouldn't buy the first year, but I have over 4000 miles, and I absolutely love it with no problems at all.

Best advice is test drive both model years. Both years are awesome. Toyota has a great reputation and resale value, I felt comfortable getting the new model year, and I love it.

I'm going 2nd gen, because I don't love the 3rd gen. You need to love something to spend that kind of money. I dislike the interior a lot and it is not an enjoyable vehicle to drive because of the new engine.

Good luck finding a new 15' at all or a second hand 15' for anything other than a complete rip off.

I'm going to start going to auctions. Dealers are price gauging on these things.
