What kind of riding do you want to do?

I ride about 60/40 road to dirt. But when i play in the dirt, i want to spin and have fun but still have traction if i want it.

    I run Kenda k270 50/50 tires

They can be had for about $120 a set or less.

    I'm running a 5.10/18 rear and a 3.25/21 front

They're dirt cheap, tough as hell, and work everywhere but mud holes.

I keep telling myself 90% dirt but so far i havent had time to take it out anywere so ive been riding street a bunch.

Currently I'm running non dot approved knobbies, there is no braking power on the street, sketchy over 45mph and I'm scared to lean much or turn hard!

Realistically ill be riding something like 50/50 once i get my trailer figured out. I'm going to use the truck to take it to the dirt most of the time because i have to go through a lot of nasty traffic to get out anywhere and its a long way.

Sweet. I used to have a drz400sm. Most fun I have ever had on a bike. I really miss that thing :pout:

I used to be on thumpertalk too, if you search my name you'll probably find pics of my old bike.

My tires would be perfect for you then.

I've tried the perelli mt21 90/10s and hated how they felt on the street. Work everywhere off pavement but stuck for road manners in my opinion. They wonder, they're so blocky when you do get them leaned all the way over on the black top, it takes you forever to muscle them back up on to the center tread. Plus the wear insanely fast for how much they cost. $200 for a set and i'd be lucky to get 1000 miles out of a rear and 2500-3000 out of a front.

The stock death wings were worthless off pavement, nearly got me killed several times. Also, they loved to wobble when you hit obstacles on the road such as a grove or debris. I got 2150 miles out of them

2280 out of my first kenda rear. About 1800-1900 out of another kenda rear. And my current kenda rear has about 700 miles on it and still has 4/5th tread left. The front kenda has about 4500 miles on it.

I honestly would've rather had the SM and bought a set of 18/21 with knobbies for it.

That way I could switch back and forth whenever.

Now: i'll just keep this bike for thrashing and in two to three years buy a supermoto for commuting and hooning.

Been dying for either a grom, or a hypermotard. I know two ends of the spectrum, but either would be a ton of fun too.

I have been considering a grom too. Hypers are amazing but i don't think i'd ever own one

What stops me on the grom idea is that i don't know how long they'll last. Like, are they going to survive 30k? 50k? Who knows...

I'd want to commute on it and ride around town.

Yeah, I'd totally ride the grom 18 miles on the freeway to work

Street tires ftw, just saying. I ride mine around in dirt on street tires just fine.
 sometimes i wish i would have gotten a larger supermoto though. Big bore will fix that.
    :stirthepot:
Grom!! Thats what i want to add with my supermoto. Hypers are just street bikes imo. If you want a large sm wait for the husky 701
