TRD Sport shouldve came like this from the factory. The SR grill looks much more sportier.

    This makes more sense to me;
-SR-black grill, black surround, black badge
-SR5-black grill, black surround, chrome badge
-TRD-black grill, chrome surround, chrome badge
    -Limited-ugly chrome grill

its not just the color but the design of the grill as well. I like the simple look of the SR grill, the other grill has too much going on IMO.

I agree, like the look of the SR grill on the Sport.

I did not use a clear coat, but you could probably add a satin or flat clear as an additional coat. The primary issue with painting plastic is to prepare the surface for maximum paint adhesion. If the paint adheres well, paint chips from road debris are significantly minimized.

As an FYI, I have experienced zero chips on the painted grill in over 5K miles of driving.

nice, thank Manny. I'm going to see if I can grab supplies today, I'm going with just the
outer chrome bezel to start with, I just can't decide if I want to cover the "black chrome" yet.

*any idea why the link for the SR5 grille is a "sham" - see my question above you?

Focus on the prep (sanding @ masking). The painting part is easy.

Sham?? Are you referring to the embedded link within my earlier response?

Why does everyone have to stick an ugly logo on their products? That "DB" really detracts from the otherwise great look. Ego, I guess.

Reminds me of this logo, which ruined the entire design:

Tomwil, I respect and take honest criticism. It has absolutely nothing to do with Ego's. We're constantly be hacked and copied all over ebay, China, and even here at home in the states.

X2, like the grill but this is the ONLY reason I am not purchasing, ruins the whole grill for me.

400 grit sandpaper. Remember that the sanding is only about scuffing the gloss finish.

No overspray. I kept the hood open during painting and I masked the entire bumper, headlights and the top of the fenders. I also placed 4" wide blue tape on the inside of the grill to prevent overspray within the engine compartment.
