The plan would be to take the Stocko Taco to the 8am meetup at the coffee shop and then film around towards upper lake, transfer gear, and then move between vehicles through the run. I'm trying to convince my friend to bring his drone. We'll be requesting everyone turn off their wifi on their phones, and bluetooth if they don't need it. Drones are a little finicky depending on who/what is sharing the 2.4ghz band.

We're definitely hoping someone brings a chainsaw, a nice axe like a Gränsfors American Felling Axe, and standard tailgating gear. We're going for the whole 4wheel-lyfe type look, so the little things will help.

    • Rock your flannel if you have it, better fitting clothes look better on film than baggy/loose apparel, so if you want your screen-time, dress for it.
    • Go for Triple Aught Design or Duluth Trading co Pants, they look cool.
    • Weird colored Fleece sucks, stick to awesome colors like deep greys, oranges, and reds, stay away from neon colors, they look horrible on film.
    • Remember boots + yaktrax + gloves
    • It's ok if your rigs are dirty, as long as they're not dingy. We're filming for character.
    • If you need a haircut, make it happen.
    • If you need to trim your beard, do that too
    • The key to cinematography is many many many cuts and b-roll to keep things interesting and not to spend too much time on one thing.
    • We'll be recording radio too, so try to keep your messages from being cut off by speaking too early into the mic after keying it or letting it go too early before you finish talking.
    • Well-Played Tom Foolery is encouraged as long as it's safe and interesting. Just channel your inner Hammond, May, and Jezza.
    **TIA :fingerscrossed:

Keep in mind, this only applies to folks who want to be filmed.

Well the permit says one per household so I'm not sure if they will process them both.

Been looking at getting a set of max trax for the trip. Looking at the extended forecast it's gonna be wet and possible snow. Any one brand better then the other?

Lol! Thanks Stanley, for all the great advice on how not to look like a slob on TV!

I'm pumped you're going to do some filming. This is an awesome event, and will be great to capture for the records! I already have some cool spots along the trail in mind where you might be able to score some good footage.

A few notes, however. Let's keep in mind that this trip is a LONG day, especially for the folks coming from south and east, and the overall goal is to score a tree and have fun. I'm all for setting up some sweet shots and getting the drone up and flying, but i also would like to keep things rolling along smoothly.

This is a fun wheeling trip with friends and family, not a fashion show to see who can get the most screen time while looking uber sharp in their $85 Triple Aught Design t shirt (give me a fucking break). :)

And for the record, I'll be wearing my carhartt's, I'm not getting a haircut, and I won't be shaving... But I do have a chainsaw!!!

Speaking of suspension. I am contemplating taking off my sway bar however since it's just forest roads I may be lazy and keep her on. Thoughts?

^right on, make sure you and your buds get your Xmas tree permits in STAT. It takes a week to 2 weeks for them to process.

Just called Hi-Way Grocery. They said they have abundant permits and will have them all the way until Christmas. I'll likely pick one up there given the tight deadline vs having it mailed to me.
