I think the key is having weight up front. My sway bar has been off for a while now, and it didn't change anything for me

I feel bad for all the people sticking with arb or ome for there suspension. The company essentially was trying to make dependable vehicles to cross the outback or safari in africa. Have you seen how slow they drive?

I would much rather by a product developed by guys with a similar need. I live in socal, the most demanding terrain we have is Baja. The shocks technologies coming from ICON fox king and bilstein are far superior to the tech in these ome kits. And even know you have ome realizing they are screwed so they knocked off the technology in the fox dsc and are moving away from twin tube shocks.

So the company that was saying there old as technology was still tried and true is now jumping into what others have been doing for 20 years.

This a business and products based analysis of arb/ome but you can read all the reviews right here. Let's all stop selling new members short, tell the new budget lift guys to get 6112s. By the way we were driving on the race track in Mexico this weekend and the 6112 were awesome!IMG_20151120_153905161.jpg

After reading thru all the pages it seems that OME 885 coils work best with the 5100 shocks........will 886 coils work with the 5100 shocks?

Probably have the only 2nd Gen with an 8274 in the world.
5100's and 886's work for me so far - had them installed one year.

887 and 90021, just installed 1000 miles ago, no problems. I even went out and drove over every speed bump and big pothole I could find. Gonna take it on some old fire roads next week and see how they do.

Hey guys, that's my video by the way. It does suck having that clank over speed bumps. I don't get it really at all over normal pot holes and stuff but haven't really nailed a nice one yet. I have had it off road and it seems ok for the most part, but I notice myself being much more cautious since I put this lift on... seems to be the opposite of what I wanted when shopping for "offroad suspension"
I love the way the back holds up and im happy with the springs, I just don't see the front shocks being something that ill just "deal" with.

id like to try to fix it before I totally write it off as an expensive lesson, anyone think some shock extenders would help?

Buy 5100. Replace front shocks. List OME shock in market place. Done.

I have new 5100 adjustable struts on my tacoma set at the lowest setting and a five inch top spacer lift and mine bottom out over speed bumps or off roading. I can't even drive it but on the road. Five different shops can't figure it out

Yes the lift kit uses stock hight front strut length and a 5 inch spacer goes on the top.
This is just crazy that no one can figure out what's going wrong.

Ok, so maybe this is a stupid question. Is the issue only with the OME fronts? Or, is this an issue front and rear?

Do you guys have front articulation problems with your truck? Mine is so stiff it easily lifts a front tire. The rear will stuff the fender.

When I first put the 885 coil / OME shock combo on, I thought it was quite stiff vs. Toyota stock springs.

I eventually got rid of the too-short OME shock, and replaced with Bilstein 5100 and have been happy with that combo. It's been a year since I put the 885 coils on and I want to say that they have softened up a bit. During that time however, I also went to 60 lb tires, which was +20 lb. more than I had before. So the unsprung mass has increased.

That said, I don't have problems stuffing the front tires. In fact, I stuff them to the tops of the wheel wells and rub, and will have to add a 1/4" or 3/8" spacer on the bumps. I'll also have to beat the pinch weld flat as I rub pretty bad in there too.

    Hope this helps.

    .
I have 2015 tacoma and recently put the ome 885s on the front. An they suck. Too stiff. Will be going back to a icon setup very soon. Always had good luck with icon. Also must agree with you guys I have ran 5100s and they are a far better improvment over the ome nitro shocks with 885s. JMO

Aren't the Icons a stiffer spring rate coil ?
