The repair trick will be to get the old glue patched cleaned off and the surface prepped without damaging or denting the hood panel and lower support structure, as I believe the support structure is spot welded in place and is non removable. For any bond to work and last, the surface preparation is key.

In my opinion, the glue joints themselves failed and not the initial surface prep, so I would put the blame on the adhesive manufacturer and not Toyota directly. Regardless, I am going to push for a replacement hood assy. Perhaps one with the scoop, as I think we finally found something that the scoop is good for (reinforcing the hood panel)!

Seems like something that should have been caught before it hit the showroom.

Confirmed. Mine has come unglued. Limited made in Mexico. Do you all think it's best to call Toyota or take into the dealer now or wait for them to issue a TSB?

Probably the more folks that call, the better to light a fire for the TSB.

This. Call Toyota, then call your dealer.

In fairness, this is exactly what the customer support person told me was the best way to get the problem addressed. Called the dealership and will drop the truck off Monday.

a little gorilla glue and five minutes applying it without any prep work would solve the problem before you can get halfway to the dealer.
I know it sucks being a brand new truck and all, but it's really a simple little thing to resolve. If you have to, I would wait for the next oil change and shame the dealer into doing it for free while they fix the hood problem to cover your time.;)

Don't disagree that a DIY fix is possible but, I'd like Toyota to know this is an issue and them paying to fix it is the best way.

I am think you'd want some adhesive effect beyond expanding foam. A couple of long beads of gorilla glue near the broken joints would be my first shot if I were attempting a fix.

I'm taking mine into the dealer Wesnesday morning. I also agree that this is an easy DIY fix but would rather let them do the right thing.

Just checked mine, Mexico made Inferno, and it too has about 8 or so blotches of adhesive either coming apart or detached completely. I'm with Outkast, I'll be filing a claim, but will probably be using expanding foam to adhere it back together. Stuff works very well for that.

Well I'll be damned. Read this thread, went out to check under the hood and sure enough the middle support skin structure is coming unglued. Filing with Toyota and making an appt. with service tomorrow.
