I can get a set of 4 wheels for $550. They are brand new 2016 Tacoma 16" OEM rims with 245/75R16 Toyo Open Country tires already mounted w/ tread measuring at 11/32nds.

    Is this a decent deal?

Looks like retail on the tires alone is more than $550, so I'd say pretty good deal

No TPMS sensors so the tire shops say they won't work on them. I can easily mount the new tires but can't balance them. I have quotes from Les Schwab and Discount Tires for sensors, reprogramming and mounting ranging in the $400 price. Is it worth it? Am I breaking any law by not having the sensors there?

    Same as everybody else...
I bought the sensors from titantpms.com for about 140 bucks IIRC. Local shop charged me 110 bucks to balance and install the off road wheels that I bought. This includes the TPMS programming. Good deal on the tires and wheels, shop around for a better install price.

Can you not reuse your existing sensors? That is what I did. Toyota only charged one mount and balance fee (aka nothing extra) with the new tires to swap my existing sensors to the new wheels. So with the wheels already mounted, they would unmounts them, swap the sensors and remount them. Assuming a $25 dealer mount/balance, your looking at about $100.

You wouldn't want to run without the sensors. Your truck will constantly have the low tire warning light/alarm on. It is also a safety feature you would be bypassing.

Agree with not wanting to run without them, even though the Toyota dealership told me that was fine.

Costco actually has a pretty good deal. $45 per sensor, $14 programming. I may go that route.

Go to another shop. It's 100% legal to install wheels/tires when the TPMS isn't working. It's 100% illegal to disable the warning light that lack of TPMS will cause. This is straight from the NHTSA.

    Show them this article: http://www.tirereview.com/the-final...e-air-on-tpms-regs-and-plus-sizing-conundrum/
