What Have You Done To Your 3rd Gen Today?

If this begins to get in the way I have a solution I use...

Get 2-4 bags of quickrete or your bags of sand
(2) 5 Gallon buckets with lid
2 Eyelet hooks with bolts/washers
2 D-Ring Shackles

drill hole near bottom of bucket and install the Eyelets with washers to keep the quickrete from coming out
Fill up bucket with quickrete and water mixture or with sand plus lid
Let harden
Stick in bed of truck and connect the D-ring shackles from the eyelet to the D-rings in the bed of the floor

Works like a champ! and can be removed at anytime you need to and takes up whole lot less space

 

I washed her , did a quick rub down with a clay bar and threw on some Meguiars paint protection.

 

Thanks! Fuel economy didn't even go down to terribly bad. I had taken the air dam off to go offroading, fuel economy went from 18.6 MPG to 17 MPG highway, which is a bit too much when I commute a lot. It's about 18.0 MPG with the skid.

0.6 is nothing. I have been debating removing the air dam and installing a Skid plate like yours, but was wondering about the mpg change.

 

Yah, my commute is quite unique... Never any traffic, exact same driving pattern so it's very easy to compare.

So I have the same exact skid plate and tow hook adapter from bullet proof fabricating on my 2015 Tacoma. Were your parts specifically made for the 2016 or are they for the 2015 and if so were they a perfect fit? thanks and it looks great btw

I thought this too, but you're just not closing at all the way. On the last section there are two clicks, the first is easy, you need to press hard where the latch is located until you hear a second click. It should form a good seal then.

Nice, like to build 1 like that. Does it really help with traction?

 

They are easy to use! They hold onto the tires vs the frame so no damage. They kind of match the tubing on my bed extender also.

 

Sorry if you already posted this but are you hauling dirtbikes? shortbed right? Just getting ideas of what i could haul with my shortbed and bed extender.

 

I haul 4x8 sheets of material quite a bit, so I'm curious, does the top of that extender line up with the top of the wheel wells?

 

Coefficients of static friction are never greater than 1 for rubber to a hard surface. Any weight you add will not transfer 1:1 into traction, roughly calling traction a force. You will get higher lateral forces and less 'lateral traction' as a force.

Weight does help when an empty bed is too light. Every tire has a weight where its traction is highest, and an empty bed is usually not that weight. But your vehicle will then become heavier and your traction, as a force, does not increase 1:1 with the force you are creating with the added weight.

But, if you go real slow, you won't get out of control and traction will be better. Just go real slow

 

Did the power step bolt up right to the frame like the 05-15 tacomas? Ive been calling amp research everyday and they have told me that the wiring was different. Could you give me a little write up on how your install went as I have one installed on my 05 tacoma but would like to install one also on my 16 tacoma.
