    And, by the way. I'm totally not competent enough to swap in a D4d, and I don't have the tools to do so. So, I'd want it done right, with documentation to pass on to the next owner (probably one of my kids).

    When I had this problem, with a Civic transaxle, I stopped trying when I began to deform the aluminum housing :eek:
    Rather than risk destroying the entire housing, I ended up using a syphon (thru the fill hole) to drain it. Worked like a champ.

    I had the exact same problem with my GX470. Was afraid to ruin the housing so I let the fluid drain out thru the axle hole since I had to replace the axle anyways then stuck a syphon in there to try to get the rest.

    Door jamb tag says 4:10s. I couldnt get the front diff but i wasnt gona leave a free axle there. I dont think it would be worth regearing front diff to 4:10s from my 3:91s

    You should NEVER run mismatched gears that far apart. You need to go back and get the front diff.

    I meant regear front to match the 4:10s. Truck is 3:91s now. Front diff is damaged somehow. Theres slop in the pinion. Truck is at a dump in next town over. I dont have the tools to even get it out. (i wanted the cv axles)
