Now that a lot of us have bought our new 2016 tacomas and have had some issues with it, where is people like Mike Sweers now. He was on youtube a lot showing off and talking about the truck prior to them being available. Now that some of us have purchased one it would be nice to see a video of him talking about customers complaints.

That is the way the American business game is played. Get you all worked up and eager to buy only to be disappointed later on. Now that business has your money you become a after thought. Oh they make you feel good by giving you a warranty. We all know how that goes. I noticed some people on the forum are having some serious problems with their trucks. In such cases, Mike Sweers should be taking the truck back and providing them with a new one. Like a lot of people I to listen to Mr Sweers and did all of the research on this truck, but I knew in the back of my mind I was not going to get myself worked up because I knew with a new transmission, engine, and body style you are bound to have some problems. I tell you what really blew my mind the number of people who placed orders for this truck before the first one hit the streets. I wonder how many if any of them are experiencing problems with their trucks.

In the last 10 yrs I've bought a Mustang, Camaro, Titan, FJ and now a Tacoma in the 1st model year.

What's the big ordeal with this?

Sweers was in Toyota videos for advertising purposes. It's part of his job. Why would Toyota now use him to advertise our complaints? That's not going to happen

I am aware that will never happen, but it would be nice if it did. I personally like my new tacoma even tho there is a couple of issues I had. One of them was my transmission fluid was low and caused it to hesitate first thing in the morning when placed in drive. I took it to the dealership had some fluid added and now it works fine. The only other issue that bothers me some and a lot of others is the transmission downshifting out of 6th gear a lot. Wish it was just a 5 speed. It would of been nice for someone to have stated in all the reviews before it was released for sale stating that the truck didnt like 6th gear. Other than that I am a happy camper with the truck. I have no regrets with my purchase of this truck and all the other tacomas and cars Ive owned through out the years.

I have had one issue, A slight howling sound....Toyota is on the case. That's all I can expect. The rest of the truck has EXCEEDED my expectations. No complaints at 1000 miles. WE expected growing pains. I ordered before I test drove one without worry. I paid for it after test driving and got a slam dunk deal besides. My dealer did not take advantage of low supply and high demand. They have a customer for life . In fact I am considering selling the wife's 14 CRV for the new RAV 4 Limited,

The GEN 2 Tacoma had a worse third year than first.

This truck is leaps and bounds better then my 15 Gen 2 and my used 08 I sold for what I paid for it.

The ordeals are few and far between and spread out. I don't think anyone has ALL the noted issues in one truck.LOL I have not read of anyone wanting to sell their truck back to Toyota for any issue.

I have no doubt Toyota will step up and fix the issues. Especially on a new design of a historically reliable truck,

I've only had my 2016 DCSB TRD OR for about a month, but I'm happy with it so far. No problems. The AT shifting issue that many mention seems to be getting better as the truck "learns" my driving style along with the very hilly terrain here.

I've had no weird noises, no vibrations, no QC related issues to report.

    I hope I didn't just jinx myself.

The constant shifting issue is computer related. I drove my standard transmission '16 on a 180 mile highway trip yesterday and left it in 6th with the cruise set from 60-75. It had no problem at all going up the hills and grades in central and western PA in 6th gear

I hear you man! I was trying to drive to work this morning and could hardly even make it due to the third gen Tacomas broken down everywhere clogging up the roads.

strange idea for a thread in my opinion. there is (and should be) a difference between how you release and market a product, and how you maintain it and deal with issues.

making a video to say "oh hi everyone, your truck may shift out of sixth gear depending on speed/load/incline/wind, sorry if that offends you" doesn't make anyone happy.

and just because you believe it is an issue, doesn't mean the engineer who designed it agrees.

glad they fixed your transmission fluid issue. don't need to see a public announcement/apology from toyota for it though, doesn't help me in any way...
