Haha the one I have on my truck right now is kinda hybrid style. It has tube with steel plate fillers. It's yours though when I build my new one

Basically I need to make a new one to accommodate my new winch. I'm planning on making it kinda like the Pelfreybilt one! I really like theirs!!

Go a lot done with the bed rack today. Got everything cut and tacked on. Rack is off the truck now and ready to be fully welded up. Also gotta add a couple things like mounts for my Hi lift Jack and tabs in the corners for future lights. Crappy cell phone pics but here it is.

After reading through all 61 pages of your build I have to admit I have a couple things on my mind.

1st. congrats on being a father and still being able to work on your truck. Means you have a phenomenal woman.

2nd. I am building most of my stuff out of aluminum with bracing and have a long way to go but just want to keep the weight down. I am also a welder so I am not worried if I hurt something lol.

3rd. We have just about the identical truck and even though I dont plan on going over 33" tires you have given me hands on testing of some of the things i was thinking about.

4th. Ever consider coming up to Canada to go wheeling? We have some wicked trails over in BC and some really nice camping. Give it a thought

Hey man. Thanks so much. My little girl means everything to me. It's so rewarding being a dad I love it!

That's way cool that you're building a lot of your own stuff as well. I wanna learn how to weld aluminum!

Very cool man. You ever have any questions about anything on my setup and I'll be happy to answer any questions.

Yes definitely have thought of coming up to Canada. My wife and I were actually going to this past March but she was 6 month preggers so it woulda been too hard. It's definitely on our to do list for sure!!

Are you into fishing? If so I might suggest coming up into British Columbia in early September. Salmon runs are happening all over and 4-6 hour drives to some amazing places. Eagle Ridge trail is also a great 4x4 spot down on the coast near Chilliwack, BC. Gives you camping, mountains, beautiful surroundings, fishing, and some great roads/trails.

Welding aluminum is not very hard but making it look pretty takes some practice. Depending if your using a spool gun or Tig setup is really what makes it either fast or slow. Best way to compare the spool setup is really really hot 7018 rod. Looks close to the same. Dangerous for getting full penetration so i always suggest Tig work.
Lincoln welding has demonstrations on YouTube and hints and tips. After that it is just practice.

I love to fish, just love being outdoors. Can't say I get out and fish enough but I do enjoy it. I hear BC is amazing so I definitely want to make it up there when my daughter is a little bit older.

Yeah I think if I was really gonna get into aluminum welding id want a TIG machine. I'm certainly not a welder by trade, just by hobby, so I definitely have some room for improvement but I do have a lot of fun and get a ton of satisfaction out of building stuff myself. Haha YouTube is the best. You can learn how to do anything on there!
