I have to recant that one. Tonight they were all lit up. Must have had them shut off somehow the other night.

Well if every other swinging (state appendage here) in the country wasn't ordering one (including me), the availability would be better. See chevy, ford, etc.

center console box lid should be able to open further back. fully open it sticks straight up and is a pain to access when sitting in the drivers seat. should at least go back to where it would meet the folded down rear seats.

Bring back the 4 liter gen2 engine or significantly quiet down the sewing machine noises on the current V6.

I just leased a new Malibu this summer because I couldn’t decide on a vehicle I wanted badly enough to buy (hate the Colorado/Canyon) so I’m married to the Bue until June 2018 but when the lease expires, I’m already considering a TRD Double Cab TRD OR to replace it. By then we’ll have a good idea how well this new 3.5L morphidite engine holds up.

The 2016 is already a pretty nice package so my wish list is pretty small. Wishful thinking my list makes it to the 2018 Taco TRD OR….

    1. Need an alternative to Fabric Seats: Good grief Toyota, please offer us something other than fabric seats in a TRD OR. Granted, the new fabric is pretty nice and durable looking but I flat out don’t want it. Leather, pleather, vinyl or Softex (whatever the hell Toyota called it) is so much easier to keep clean and more comfortable. I’ve purchased 9 new cars since 1997 and once I got my first leather ride in 2002, I’ve never gone back to fabric. And I don’t want to spend another $800+ on an ill-fitting aftermarket leather kit like a Katzkin after paying almost 40K for the truck to begin with. Plus they need to be full power seats.
    2. Manual shift transfercase: Yeah, yeah…we know the Tacoma is geared more towards the first-time truck owners and the younger millennial crowd that loves gimmicky electrical shit but there are still many of us out there that actually use 4x4’s for real world off-roading. The Taco is practically as popular as the Heep Wrangler in many off-road circles. The reality is the electric shift sucks when you’re on a trail where you need to shift back and forth from 4 low to 4 hi several times within 100 yards. The electric shift is too slow to shift plus, they’re flat out not as reliable as the tried and true manual shift tcases. Wishful thinking but…. it would be nice if Toyota offered an updated TRD Pro and fitted it with the 4Runner Trail manual shift transfercase. Ya, that is what we want in a truck….A mechanical lever!
    3. Lose the chrome grill in the TRD packages: Seriously, did Stevie Wonder and Hellen Keller work together to pick out the grill for the TRD trucks?
    4. Diesel: HELL NO! I work for a truck and diesel engine manufacturer and would not own a modern day diesel engine even if it was free. All the diesel wishers either do not come from a technical background or just flat out naïve about modern diesels. Phuck diesels!

    Hardcore off road floor mats!
A blinker fluid reservoir... Real annoying to fill the blinker fluid after every tank of gas.

And a 7th gear for the manuals.

Definitely the drivers grab handle - keep reaching for it only for it to not be there, auto up/down on all the windows, power locking tailgate.

I miss the mechanical LSD from my 2005. Auto LSD is for the birds.

Huh!!! I own a Dodge 1 ton 4X4 with a Cummins diesel with well over 200K on it. Never have had to touch the engine and fully expect another 200k before I do touch it. It has way more power than my Tacoma could ever dream of having, and still gets about the same fuel mileage as my Tacoma even with around twice the vehicle weight and three times the payload capacity. I don't know why you feel this way, as you didn't expound. I do come from a technical background, and if I am naive, so be it. But just based on the simple, non-technical measurements of power, reliability, and economy, with all due respect, I don't understand how you can say what you just said. That doesn't mean someone can't make a lousy diesel (not mentioning any brand names), but diesels have characteristics that make for great truck engines.

Congratulations . But, if you have a Cummins with 200K trouble free miles you do not have what we consider a modern diesel. Beginning with the tighter tier of emissions relations in 2010 (actually 2007 brought DPF’s) they have gotten overly complicated, more expensive, less durable and get lower fuel economy. Modern Cummins are not perfect either. We offer those in our trucks as well from little 6.7L on up to 15L, and they have just as many issues as any other. For those reasons is exactly why VW chose to cheat. By cheating emissions, they were able to build a better performing, more durable diesel car that got better fuel economy than the competition.

The good ole days of diesels (like the ole 5.9L) being the long lasting trouble free engine they once were are long gone buddy. The next big emissions tier regulation is coming up in 2017. It will get worse. I predict within 10 to 15 years we will even see certain US cities and even some states (California) ban the sale of diesels below certain GWVR ranges. London and Paris are already in process of doing that which everybody thinks Europe is so pro-diesel, which is not the case. They are dirty filthy engines that take a lot of complicated and expensive technology to clean up.

I actually feel sorry for any sucker that buys a Colorado/Canyon diesel. Do some research on how well the little RAM 1500 diesel is doing. It is a stroke of luck if they make 60,000 trouble free miles. Sorry, the diesel days are gone......now there are more cons than pros to owning a modern one.

You are right. Mine is a "96 Cummins. Will probably own it forever. So what you are really saying that there is nothing wrong with diesel technology, except that the government got involved and changed the rules and ruined the ball game.

You got it! Yet another fine thing our government has phuckered up for us. Keep your old 5.9 forever. They don't make them like an anvil anymore.

No, what he is saying the engines are dirty and if we want to continue to live on this planet we will need air we can breath. The end of the diesel in small vehicles will come IF technology cannot clean the engine up. The government didn't lead action against the diesel it followed with legislation after it became clear something had to be done to clean up the air in our cities. You can't buy leaded gasoline in the US or Canada anymore for the same reason. Nor can you buy diesel with high sulphur content either.

    My should haves:
-Powered Seats - doesn't bother me much, but it is something everyone criticizes. "A 40k truck with no power seats?!'
-Leather option - I actually like the fabric, but seems like another popular complaint. Just make it an option--why not? The fabric seems like it will last though...we shall find out.
-Steering wheel - I agree that it could have a larger range of adjustability as mentioned. The telescoping isn't too bad for my preference, but it does have a short range. I would like to make the wheel slightly more vertical (the tilt down adjustment), but its no big deal--I am just used to my other cars, and can't say I notice it much anymore.
    -Powered Tailgate lock
    -Driver entry handle
    -Gas door lock
    -Sunglass holder
    -Homelink (Premium and Tech)

    Wish list so far:
-AT reprogram. 1. I wish the tranny listened to 'manual mode' more, as in it will NOT downshift unless I tell it to. Currently, it only limits upshifts and not downshifts. If there isn't enough power on tap for the hill, well then let it keep dropping speed. 2. Any time you put it into the sport/manual mode, and you're above 4th, it will downshift to 4th right off the bat. I wish it would just stay in whatever gear it is in, and let the driver downshift or upshift as needed regardless of throttle input. Sometimes I click it into manual to downshift to 5th on a hill and it defaults to 4th requiring extra RPM blast and then waiting till it upshifts.
-Powered rear window. I am thinking I will rarely use it since it's manual and I can't reach it. Also can't say how much i'd use it if it were powered haha.
-Front bumper camera. It can be hard to see where you are going when climbing steeper grades. While we're at it...add some to the sides haha.
-Beep when turn signal is used and BSM sees something

Everything forward of the windshield. Including what's under the hood. Also, a solid axle option.
