This happened to me a couple times. When I first start up the truck the A/C light goes off. I turn it back on and it goes off after a couple seconds. This happens until the truck is driven a mile or so then operation goes back to normal. Intermittent problem that doesn't happen every time. Wondering if anybody with a '16 had similar issues.

***Update*** One of the pins leading to the mag clutch rotation sensor was bent in the connector and not making contact. Connector was located behind the glove compartment. A/C works fine now.

What is ambient temp and what mode do you have it set on? The AC will turn on and off it its on "auto" as well as if ambient air temp is cold enough

I believe the Hvac is a module that can be scanned and could possible have codes in it. I have to look into this myself because on 2 occasions myself I have had the vent direct change on mine well actually off. I thought I was losing my mind the first couple of times but I caught it red handed yesterday. I always leave it on feet and defrost this time of year when off. The only reason I knew was halfway through my drive in the way home I got warm blast of air on my face and looked and it was changed.

It's going to be a tough one to figure out but I am going to just ask to check the system with TIS and see if there is any codes or info in there. I know my older Audi had this with their system which functioned the same way.

Toyota is aware of this problem and is working on a solution. Possible switch/pressure switch problem.

Toyota finally fixed it after i brought it in 5 times. They changed multiple components to no avail. Compressor, mag clutch rotation sensor, control unit, etc.

Finding wires isn't the easiest things at times. But a year is a bit much
